... I can't really tell the difference between CC and OC anymore since everyone seems to be written so generically... very few characters stand out as memorable. Honne, Chifuyu and Charlotte come to mind but that's about it... everyone else is an acquired taste of sorts.

The OC intro fanfic would be just as the title suggests, first impressions. So I don't think it's possible to develop them

Male OC's sure... but make it plausible. Not something of a "He came from so and so organization because of a so and so organization and he just happened to run into the CC cast." or just another "I came here to kick ass and grab a few while I'm at it" kind of characters.

Rong is the former though so can't really say much. But similar to Jak's he was supposed to be something like an OAV of canon. A short saga of sorts.

Well, V4 Arc of Sacred Twins will highlight more on OC than usual. Grand total of Four male OC stole some spotlight, almost each of them has their own chapter (with a specific canon female who get half the spotlight themselves).

Again, they will disappear until the plot calls for them

discussing the points of a story about introducing OCs?

If the hero did something that undoes the effects of MOST of the events that happened during the story somehow... does that feel disappointing?

If you want an example, look at Marvel. When captain America or Wolverine first died, the reactions were basically "Noooooo, I can't believe they killed him!". Cue 4 resurrections later and the reactions are now "Oh, he died again? Wonder how he's going to come back to life this time."

Death should have finality. It's pointless if it's just used for cheap sympathy and reactions.

What if a vague hint was given? As in a very very very very vague hint that it could happen.

Also would it be creepy if the celestials could be male? Originally they are only Souls but it was learned that while they can't synchronize with a body/IS, they can still forcefully "possess" one.

You basically summed up Gundam 00's pixie dust. The explanation was there, but most of the audience still feel it like an asspull.

Cosmic energy in this case is what powers eldritch abomination level beings... and it's the same force powering the kamen rider and the celestials... so it's understandable if you gave up on it.

I'm not really a fan of magic, especially if the magic we're talking about is philosophical (such as Harry Potter). On the other hand, I like Fairy Tail and Naruto, because the magic are easy to understand and MST3K mantra works well with those.

... I'm a Type-Moon fanatic at heart, but believe me, I had a serious learning curve when trying to make sense of the world.

But it was SO worth it at the end.

Anyway, missed a lot of stuff due to work. Money is great. When I'm not trying to use it to bolster up the kemonomimi collection.
