i never accept the term football to be used for american football, it's stupid for americans to called football soccer.
Americans should start using the term football properly like the rest of the world.

A hearty welcome first. Welcome!

Now to matters proper.

Eh Italy didn't get screwed. They have only themselves to blame. They screwed themselves. If they had won those two earlier matches as lots of people had claimed, (including their own players but not their more realistic coach and some of the other players) they would have been through. Instead they claim foul when they cannot perform, never once examining their own flawed play.

Poor Spain has a documented history of self-destructing at crucial moments of tournaments. Bad luck does apply to them as well

The last few minutes of the Sweden - Denmark was certainly funny. They didn't even bother with trying. Overall it wasn't the most spectacular match, nor was it the most exciting one but it was certainly entertaining.
Overall the Danish were cleary better and that penalty for Sweden...was...odd, I've seen far worse moments that didn't even get a penalty (as far as I can tell Larson wasn't even touched by the keeper).
The second goal for Sweden was also odd, especially considering the action of the Danish keeper pushing the ball away with two hands :\ That one raised an eye-brow for me...
Oh well too bad for Italy, but they get themselves to blame. Another favourite out of the tournament.

England vs. Portugal

It'll be a damn match. We'll be sure to get revenge for Euro 2000.

Portugal v England preview
by Alex Livie - Last Updated 23 Jun 2004

England chief Sven Goran Eriksson has no fresh injury worries ahead of Thursday's quarter final with Portugal.

The Three Lions' thrilling win over Croatia set up a last eight meeting with the host nation, but it appeared to come at a cost as John Terry and David Beckham left the field as walking wounded.

However, England skipper Beckham says he is fit and Chelsea powerhouse Terry is expected to take his place alongside Sol Campbell at the heart of the defence.

"I've got a knock on my ankle but it's not a problem," Beckham said on Wednesday.

Eriksson has all of his squad available for the game, aside from knee injury victim Nicky Butt, and he is almost certain to start with the team which kicked off the win over Croatia.

"They are fit, all of them," said Eriksson. "Only Nicky Butt (is out) so it is very good.

"No yellow cards and no red cards and everybody is fit, so it is perfect."

England have looked full of verve going forward and Eriksson will demand a similar display against Portugal, but he will be mindful that the Croats exposed aerial flaws in his rearguard.

Portugal are unlikely to batter at the England door with long balls, rather focusing on the craft of Deco, Luis Figo and Rui Costa.

Pauleta is suspended for the game, which is likely to see coach Luiz Felipe Scolari start with match-winner against Spain, Nuno Gomes.

There are sure to be a number of mini battles all over the pitch, with Gary Neville's clash with Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo one of the most intriguing.

The two teams have a recent meeting to draw on for clues, a 1-1 draw in February, but England will not have to worry about goalscorer Pauleta as he is suspended.

Portugal have tightened up defensively since their opening day loss to Greece, but the likes of Ricardo Carvalho and Jorge Andrade will have a new threat to contend with in the form of Wayne Rooney.

The Everton starlet has netted three times in the competition and if he can continue to produce the goods he could lead England to the semi-finals and beyond.

Alright, so the Oranges are still in the game. Gratz to them and the Czechs.

Now tonight would be a nice matchup. Portugeuse Man O'War vs the Three Lions.

Personally I say Go! go! Ronaldo!

Our defense was a little shaky against Croatia but there shouldn't be any problem against Portugal. If we contain Ronaldo and Figo, we control the game.

I'm expecting a lot from Owen and Lampard tonight.

I'm not sure, if I compare past games I've to say England will win. However I don't know how Portugal is going to play after winning against Spain (they do have lot of confidence now).

But I'm still betting my money on England...

Yeahhh we go on.
Ricardo was excellent defending the last penalty without gloves and then scoring the winning goal, truly truly excellent.

Bullshit. We would've won that in normal time if the ref wasn't mentally retarded... It was a fucking goal.

Next, we take penalty first and guess what, the spot is shit and Becks slices it. If Port had gone first, well...

Bah, I'm too pissed off after watching that knowing the ref stopped us winning.

Am I the only one who thinks Beck is way to over hyped up?
