Oh, not interested then. If you guys decide to make a fairly canon-in-spirit non-genderbent version, though, hook me up. Always loved Ranma, and Minami-ke's Mako was pretty damn funny, so I understand the whole gender ambiguity thing, but I never could understand the interest behind the "genderbending already established characters" thing. Probably due to my aversion to fanfic...

I personally think it a challenge to genderflip the characters and still have them in character. It is not easy to do well, but when it is done, it is something.

Does a "fairly canon-in-spirit using the characters of both sides version" interest you at all? As in the characters of one universe slide over to the other, and thus we have interactions between the members of two different SOS brigades?

Also I very much dislike the gender ambiguity stuff. Seitenkanification is a much more interesting process, what with trying to see how much of an ass Haruki is because he's a guy, how totally unmanly Mitsuru is, the bias people have toward Itsuko hitting on Kyonko, etc.

Well, I'm certainly not complaining. Itsuko-Kyonko games (along with bodily harm), Yuuki-Kyonko cosy pics are just some of the many wonderful things I'm glad to see.

Time for a rambling paragraph unrelated to the previous discussion.

I was in the bookstore in my mall today, when I saw copies of the translated Melancholy novel stacked beside the Twilight display. That wouldn't be bad on it's own, but right next to it was a small, hand drawn poster saying "If you l♥♥♥ve Twilight, than you'll l♥ve The Melancholy of Hiharu Suzumiya!"

Ew.

I would have taken pictures but I didn't have my camera with me, and stores generally frown upon people taking photos of their merchandise. I know, I know, pics or it didn't happen, but believe me. I'm far too lazy to make up something. Lies take effort.

I considered that, but I didn't have a Sharpie or anything with me. I thought about asking someone for a lighter and buying some hairspray and just torching the place, but A) I had spent all my money on manga and other books already, B) the store is right next to the one place in my city that actually sells manga, C) I'm scared of getting a goddamn detention, let alone getting arrested, and D) I'm lazy.

I wish I could have scrawled the SOS-dan logo across the page. ;___; Lost opportunities.

The pictures will probably be crap and they might not show the actual stacks of books, because one time a cashier yelled at me for trying to take a picture of a book cover when I was trying to get a photo of something outside the store, and I wish to avoid that kind of situation. I dislike confrontation when said confrontation involves a walrusy guy with pit stains shaking his fist at me and giving me dirty looks while I loiter in the store. If the photos don't show any items being sold in the store, I could be a smartass and say "but it's not merchandise."

If they sold it to me I'd totally buy it, though. I could mock it from the comfort of my own home!
