My thoughts: Since Tsukimiya Ayu is the main girl in the game, followed by Minase Nayuki and the rest, the anime creators logically thought that in the anime, Ayu should be with Yuuichi. He can't be a two timer! Anyway this is one of those series that is touching yet sad, next to Air. |

More thoughts....
I watched it for the first time about two months ago, then watched it
again in its entirety about three weeks back. It makes more sense if you notice: Spoiler:
I really liked the series. If you liked this, there's another series out called Honey and Clover that you might like too. The story is similarly compelling in that it's a long form (25 episodes) with some similar emotional depth. |

I recently watched Kanon (anime-only watcher, haven't played the game). It was a masterpiece. I can't believe other anime take 24 episodes to do flawed what Kanon did flawlessly in 13. I can't say I liked a girl better than the others.
Spoiler:
But whatever, it was excellent

phew...
jeez... i was on an anime marathon and we ended up first watching rumbling hearts (KGNE) and if you didnt know that is probably one of the most depressing thing ive ever seen so as a "pick-me-up" anime; we found the 13 episodes of kanon, at first i thought "oh crap... i think im going to die of depression" until the final 5 minutes of the last episode. Personally it was a big relief to see that no one actually died (well except the fox; but the little bell jingle at the end was a nice touch that she was still around ) All in all; a great great anime.

So I just started to watch Kanon(not 2006 one) and I am up to episode 4, and well so far it's not good and I am really considering dropping the show. Does the show gets better anytime soon, because the show is just not fun to watch. I mean there must be a reason why people love it so much.

Well.. the story is taken from a beloved visual ero-game so there's some slack cut for the original anime adaptation because of that. Unfortunately, with its one-season length - many aspects of the story were over-compressed. That coupled with the character design style that some find hard to take turned some folks off. I was also iffy on the animation quality itself (on-model problems, jerky animation, deformation). The hero was generally considered almost "walking dead" (classic no-personality ero-game lead).
I don't know.. I really managed to enjoy the series when I saw it for the first time because it was an early experience in the kind of story anime could tell that I wasn't finding elsewhere. Since then.... and with the advent of Kanon2006 - I find it hard to even fire it up to watch for research :P The sole piece I like better in the original series at this point is the way they handled "the clock" events and the recording on it.

I hate to say "don't watch it" (2002) - it did have some nice scripted moments .... but yeah if you're just making time for one - watch the 2006 version and move on.
Twice the character depth and a non-wussy Yuuichi. If you're not hooked by ep 6 or 7.... yeah you might move along to something else but a lot of the mysteries climax towards the middle and end. A lot of things are not as natural as they seem..... and not just the obvious.
