Thanksgiving Poem
Thanksgiving
Twas the night before Thanksgiving and in my sleep. Strange dreams in my mind, began to creep Thanksgiving leftovers beckoned --- The dark meat and white, But I fought the temptation with all of my might. Tossing and turning with anticipation...... The thought of a snack became infatuation..... So to the kitchen I did race, Flung open the door, And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galore I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes, Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes. I felt myself swelling so plump and so round, Till all of a sudden, I rose off the ground! I crashed through the ceiling. Floating into the sky.... With a mouthful l of pudding and a handful of pie, But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees. HAPPY EATING TO ALL! PASS THE CRANBERRIES PLEASE! HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!!! in advance!! Cammie, nice poem! I like poems that rhyme, since I don't get those other poems that have no particular pattern to them.
 Anyone can write those poems. It's the rhyming ones and haiku's that require more talent and effort.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and all those who celebrate it too!!

"Girl of sixteen
Whole life ahead of her Slashed her wrists Bored with life Didn't succeed Thank the Lord For small mercies Fighting back the tears Mother reads the note again Sixteen candles burn in her mind She takes the blame It's always the same She goes down on her knees and prays I don't want to start Any blasphemous rumours But I think that God's Got a sick sense of humor And when I die I expect to find Him laughing Laughing Girl of eighteen Fell in love with everything Found new life In Jesus Christ Hit by a car Ended up On a life support machine Summer's day As she passed away Birds were singing In the summer sky Then came the rain And once again A tear fell From her mother's eye I don't want to start Any blasphemous rumours But I think that God's Got a sick sense of humor And when I die I expect to find Him laughing " and These mist covered mountains Are a home now for me But my home is the lowlands And always will be. Some day you'll return to Your valleys and your farms And you'll no longer burn To be brothers in arms. Through these fields of destruction Baptism of fire I've witnessed your suffering As the battle raged higher. And though they did hurt me so bad In my fear and alarm You did not desert me My brothers in arms. There's so many different worlds So many different suns And we have just one world But we live in different ones. Now the sun's gone to hell And the moon's riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die.
