Thought this was another great ep. Found it intriguing and fun. Seeing the SOS Dan do more normal activities like playing on the beach and playing with fireworks was nice. At least they're doing something normal without something strange happening.

Highlights for me this ep were:
- Kyon's imouto in a bag. She was super cute!!
- Kyon being cut off when he was about to say I love u.
- Mikuru and Haruhi is swimsuits
- Kyon when he goes "Which one is the beach ball?"
- Butler getting a face full of pillow
- Haruhi's concerned and worried expression

Plotwise this ep reminded me of the movie I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Where the pple get stuck on an island in a storm and murders start to occur.

True, but that could also be caused by their frantic running to the room. It is summer.
To me that doesn't constitute as concrete enough proof that Itsuki had nothing to do with the murder.

and they decided to skip around again! which means I can't post the answer until 2 weeks after. Grrrr
Eh... but you get to laugh at us non-novel readers as we stumble over our theories and such.

I somehow feel out of place here... should I start sporting a Haruhi themed ava and sig?

edit:

@mr.muffin: Yes, mr.muffin sir!! I can't bear to remove my dear Sui, so Nat will have to go Behold!! My provisional Ava, until I get the time to make a better one.

Are we completely certain that there was a murder? The guy is lying there with blood on his shirt, but could the knife be a trick? It struck me that the knife was aimed through quite a thick book in his shirt pocket.

The author Tanigawa admitted that in Lone Island Syndrome, he had the beginning of the story dragged out for too long before entering the main plot of the story.

In this adaptation, the flow of the story is much smoother. And they managed to give a nice little role for Kyon's sister to join in the party as well without disturbing the flow. (In the novel, Kyon took some time to finally convince his sis to stay behind. )

I *suspect* we'll find its a "murder mystery party" trick... because Haruhi apparently can't allowed to actually *discover* any real mysteries.... just be diverted and entertained. In some reality, it may be true.

In some sense, its hard to really analyze anything here - because its like:
"Hey, whats going on now?"
"I have no idea, I can only tell you what I'm sensing - which may have nothing to do with what is really going on."

Kage Kare Mamoru, and now Suzumiya Haruhi... is a loli-in-a-bag going to be the anime "must have" for this season? I expect this is going to be popping up a lot at convention cosplay in the near future.

Well, if it is a trend it's not a completely new one. I recall Happy Lesson (one of the OVAs I think) did the Loli-in-a-bag thing too.

chakgy: NICE FIND

A novel reader! Perfect. I would like to be spoiled on a similar question Kyon asks in the third screencaps, if you will please..

Spoiler for beachball:

And welcome to the frustration the anime-only viewers are enduring every week because of the order of things or the lack of it, along with a healthy dosage of confusion served in each episode.

Huh. I actually just noticed it from monir's screencap, but what book is Yuki reading in this ep?
