Worse comes to worst, they can always pretend Bush's a Democrat and always has been. In fact, he stole the election from the Republican candidate Al Gore, with the help of the ACLU or Acorn or something.

Except cars also produce Carbon Monoxide. They have systems in place to convert that to Carbon Dioxide, but those systems have to work to prevent your car becoming a driving hazard zone. Hence, tests. Properly working filters also help reduce smog levels in big cities, another case where exhaust fumes can cause illness or death.

Or they could complain about living in a one-party dictatorship, where Obama runs for reelection unimpeded by any opposing candidate.

It seems America has fallen into Anarchy and lacks a president at all. Remember the good old days when he had people lead our country? Now we just have some empty space...

You know, I wouldn't even mind a potential lack of leadership from a President if only the damned Congress would step up and do a decent job.

That being said, here are the non-Presidential listings for the 2012 elections (as they currently stand by region, specifics will be added later):

2012 Judicial elections
2012 House of Representatives elections
2012 Senate elections
and
2012 Gubernatorial elections

Yeah. And the thing is any major release of CO2 is never just CO2. There are plenty of other things in factory smoke and car emissions that are deadly. And there is very few ways you can decrease them without decreasing emissions in general. So that's why I say we are better off focusing on the more down to Earth arguments about toxins, and decrease CO2 emission by proxy/side effect.

Correct. It a city hasn't had its conventional air pollution under control (and still having smog/what-not), it is unwise to pursue CO2 cutting.

It seems Perry has a record for this foot in the mouth stuff. Good luck explaining his statement about seceding from the Union away in a presidential debate.

In the GOP... there is no past, no history - they re-invent "reality" all the time

Unfortunately for them, there's the Internet.

Oh I think we should give Perry a little more credit. He's been in politics for a long time, and I don't think those comments were accidental. I think he's purposefully pandering to his teahatter supporters because really without them, I imagine he'd have a hard time even getting considered for the nomination.

Do we REALLY need another politician leading the country? Why don't we just put a philosopher king in power?

You missed my point; any air pollution limitation strategy would automatically decrease CO2 emission.

There is only so much filters can do. Hence emissions in general would need to be cut. And since CO2 is in nearly every kind of emission that exists, cutting emissions overall would cut CO2.
