Don't give me that. Even you can recognise that fighting wasn't everything to Avatar like other crappy shonen. It had some great drama, characterisation and comedy too. It doesn't have to have genuine threats.

It also has an almost allmighty protagonist...

If they pull out a Fumoffu then it's ok I guess.

Aang is not almighty. The avatar isn't, or did you forget that the long line of Avatars that have died before? Aang is ultimately one person, and there are challenges that strong power can't address. Aang was fairly strong in the series, and he still had to work for things.

If you're only thinking DBZ possibilities, then your imagination has flat-lined.

^ Flat-lined? Weren't we speculating the new show will be comedy? How serious of a threat can there be in a comedy?

You mean the new comic series (the new cartoon series looks anything but comedic)? Yeah, it'll probably be mostly side stories and little character vignettes mixed with cute little romance sections (Aang and Katara need to get a son somehow, else who will train the Avatar in the new series ).

That being said, the Avatar is not about using force to solve problems...well, Aang is not about to use force to solve problems (the Avatars MOs are fairly different). I'd think you'd like this because it will make the potential drama in the comic series entirely powered by politics and potential mind games.

For a hypothetical, say some of the Fire nobles want to go back to their dastardly ways, but not being able to directly fight Aang, they instead attempt to pass laws that would subjugate others (only within the Fire country). Consequently, since Aang's duty is not to police the world, merely balance the spiritual and physical (and correct any imbalances), he would not be able to use force to disrupt the plans of such greedy or xenophobic individuals, instead he will have with politics.

Then again, Azula could always escape prison and force a direct confrontation, resulting in the action you so desire .

We are talking about a nation which wiped out the wind element from the world. Aang will not bother with politics since they pretty much RUINED the balance of the world.

Go Azula, go! XD

I didn't think Avatar counted as anime.
The M. Night live action adaptation was disgustingly horrible.

I agree, she actually looks like a well built 18 year old there which threw me but I like it, more announcements soon I hope.

Ah yes, thats the other thing I noticed. She clearly has a more muscular build than I had first expected, which is something I really dig about her. It makes sense for her to look like that since she already should be in the final stage of her training and from the video we saw previously she needs to be very athletic to pull those moves.
Plus, it's refreshing to see this sort of design these days.

Well, I've been reading through the comments on the WSJ and apparently there will be another announcement tomorrow.

Also, from the comments

Nickelodeon told me the title is “The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra.” The show doesn’t come out until next year, so my guess is they could always shorten it.
Hmm, not sure about this.

Apologises for the double post, but it's been a day since and we have Voice cast announcements.

Unfortunately, Paul Dini was right

Quote:
Janet Varney as Korra

Kiernan Shipka as Jinora

Daniel Dae Kim as Hiroshi Sato

David Faustino as Mako

Seychelle Gabriel as Asami

Lance Henriksen as Lieutenant

P.J. Byrne as Bolin

JK Simmons () as Tenzin
I'm excited about JK Simmons being in the show (Aang got the most awesome son), and Lance Hendrickson is a great choice but everyone else? Meh at the moment.

They have a character named Mako. My interest in this series just increased.

The main cast is starting to feel a bit like an otome game.
