I'm kind of divided on it. I loved the first season and the second was great during the prequel bits but overall it's such a bleak setting that I fail to be particularly enthused about more of it.
Knowing the state of that universe I can't see any good end for this. Watching more just feels like an exercise in masochism... which I'll probably still take part in

I mean sure I'll watch another season. But this is one of those settings where if there's more story to tell that isn't a good sign for the main characters. Maybe I kind of forgot the last season's key details, but how much else is there for them to tackle?
Oh well. Will check it out and try not to get depressed while doing so.

Season 2 seemed to end conclusively, with the apparent death of both heavenly and earthly gods leaving humanity battered and alone, but with a restored Earth that they were now free to try to rebuild. I see no need for the franchise to continue further, and frankly I have no desire to see these poor girls suffer any more. They won, and they went through both figurative and literal hell to do it. Let them have their peace at last.

So it wasn't a sequel after all. It actually takes place between the first and second seasons (at least so far). This makes sense, if you think about it. The second season was pretty rushed so there's a lot they can do to expand on it. We see they're adding material from the KuMeYu light novel, and there are hints they will add material from NoWaYu as well.
All in all, it's a good idea. A sequel wouldn't work because Yuuna and the others fought so hard to defeat the heavenly gods and stop the war. It would be a pretty shitty idea to ruin that just to milk the franchise. A prequel and retelling of the second season is a much better idea. So yeah, I'm looking forward to this. Next episode seem to focus on the KuMeYu material. I can't wait.

I'll admit that I was...somewhat confused with the start of this episode. It has been a while since I watched the show, but I was pretty sure an adventure happened after the scene that started this episode. But I guess if they are cramming this between season 1 and 2 that's fine.
Heck...things might actually be fine in this show. They have to be fine to a certain degree unless they are actually redoing season 2 along the way. No chance there wasn't going to be a slide towards tragic action considering this franchise. The first episode was fine overall. The jumping around early on to set the upbeat 'youth' bit was a bit weak. But it did the job.

We're really getting KuMeYu animated as expected. And it's not just this episode. The preview for next episode suggests more KuMeYu material incoming.
For those who don't know, KuMeYu was a light novel that takes place right before the second season. So this confirms this new anime is not a sequel but actually takes place between first and second seasons. That been said, I do expect we'll get to second season material soon. They'll probably fill in the blanks with new material since the second season was so rushed. But you know what would be really cool? If they somehow included NoWaYu material as well. But I'm not gonna hope for that because I don't wanna set myself up for disappointment. NoWaYu is the single best thing coming out of this franchise and all the fans have been hoping for an anime based on it. But it should get its own show, not just a few episodes from a YuYuYu show.

Kind of an unusual move to suddenly completely leave the main characters to start up a story with a new cast. There was some connection with starting up with last week's cliffhanger. Which is kind of funny how it remains a cliffhanger since they immediately dropped it to focus on something else
.I'm curious to see where this season is actually going. If they are bridging the first and second seasons that's alright. But if they then try to remake season 2 it might just collapse. Not sure how successful it would be at covering the second season again while also trying to fit in material that wasn't in that second season. Unless this is getting 2 cours or something. Anyways, the new characters were fine. You had that fairly intense person who flipped out over not being chosen which made it entertaining. Though I could have done less with miss "we're all gonna die." She's not wrong to freak out. But that doesn't make her less annoying. Onto the next stage of this mission.
