"What otaku would turn down the chance to visit the holy land and get away from his mother", is his reasoning. Started online gaming recently as well, with surprisingly good scores.

Yui, Class Rep and Student Council President. A girl from a highly placed Japanese family, brought up to be a Yamato Nadeshiko. Absolutely serious about her responsibilities. Feels the first touch of romance while overseas attending a function when she got lost and was saved, and cannot forget the boy who rescued her from the drunks.

Yuuya's webpals on the Prominent Moon Shade blog forum:

Lowell, Yuuya's otaku high school friend in America, keeps in touch with him offering new designs. Heavy online gamer of RPGs.

Tarisa, a girl of unknown age from Nepal, who loves aircraft and model aircraft; has a short complex.

Cryska, a Russian who is socially inept. Joins the forum on the advice of her younger sister to learn to talk to people. Has frequent headaches when stressed, to the point of forgetting memories. Sometimes seems to have an alter personality. Does online gaming with her sister as the team Scarlet Twins.

Inia, her younger sister who is carefree; while she looks innocent on the outside, is actually a sharp reader of people, almost like she can read minds. Joins the forum thinking it was a teddy bear DYI thread because of the image of a brown bear. Stays on as she is actually a strong online gamer as well, teaming up with her sister as the other half of Scarlet twins.

Stella, an mangaka and illustrator who has a very precise eye; she acts motherly to everyone, giving advice to all. Joins the forum to exchange ideas about painting, and became a moderator soon after.

Giacosa, Italian playboy (self styled) who was roaming the boards for girls. Stays on when Tarisa insults him, and frequently lurks to argue with her. Frequently banned by Stella for posting lewd comments.

Cui, girl from China, obsessed with martial arts and online gaming. Was in Yuuya's first game and saw him fragging multi-kills like a boss, using a unique drop. Found out that it was his first time playing, and started stalking him thereafter. Talks dirty with Yuuya online.

Sharon, Yuuya's ex from America. A normal girl who was in the same class as Yuuya in highschool, breaks up with Yuuya since he does not give her the attention she wants. Dates another classmate of his instead. Did online gaming casually, but normally does other girly things. Likes watching boys fight over her from a young age.

Leon, Yuuya's schoolmate in America highschool, and current boyfriend of Sharon. Dislikes Yuuya for his Otaku obsession, as being half Japanese as well, Leon was frequently considered the same as him, and was bullied unfairly as a result. Bloomed into hate in a certain event.

Maybe I should write something on this, if I ever get the time.

I always thought Latrova was of the better things to come out of Total Eclipse, personally. It's been some time since we got a character like that lasting for more than one episode in a mecha series too.

I'd say Yui, personally, but I definitely agree that Latrova is one of the more positive aspects of the TE story.

Pretty much. I was never 100% sure she was dead. For some reason, I was always under the impression they left her death ambiguous so that, if need there be, they could bring her back.

What I WASN'T expecting, however, is that they'd bring half of the Zhar battalion back as well.

Not like it mattered that half of them were alive, though, if you get what I mean.

But what I mean is that when I first learned Latrova was alive (I thought it was a cruel joke made by June back then), I thought she had been the only survivor. But then it turns out the Lasers and remaining BETA didn't really wipe out the rest of the Zhar Battalion, and even Natassja had survived. I was really surprised by that.

Of course, it doesn't matter after that because, well...half of them get nuked anyway. So they might as well not have survived in the first place.
