I divided my vote to shikai only, bankai only, and overall.
I went with Wabisuke for shikai only, since it seemed to be the most well-planned Shikai, being one that would typically be able to subdue your opponent without killing them, or to cleanly decapitate your enemies if necessary. Perfectly designed, but I think will have a dreadful Bankai that won't do the Shikai justice. [meaning I don't think it'll ever be revealed]
I chose Tensa Zangetsu for my favourite for Bankai only, since it was what I had bet Ichigo's bankai would be when it hadn't been revealed. I like it best because it is still largely unexplored area, prefect for a main character, since it allows for multiple power-ups. Unfortunately, it has no real flow with it's Shikai, which was never explored fully by Ichigo, leading him to largely rely on his Bankai over his shikai.
Finally, for the grand prize, I chose Shinsou as my favourite Zanpaktou overall, since, in the end, it makes the most sense. It truly is, and sword with a powerful ability.
The shikai, an extending spear, is practically powerful, useful in both long and short range. It isn't overpowered, and requires that Ichimaru himself needs to also become strong in order to capitalize in using it. I particularly like that the sealed form is a wakizashi, since it perfectly contrasts the shikai [long], and bankai [exessively long].
The bankai is also a very powerful technique, and matches the idea of Ban-Kai [full release], meaning that the shikai was only a tone-downed version of Bankai. It also makes it the closes we've seen to having a gun, which reminds me of that funny Bleach spoof of a yuzuka calling out 'bankai', and pulling out a gun on Ichigo.
So that's what I think, that and the 3rd division had two of the coolest zanpaktous in the series.
