Remember this was originally a novel (actual novel, not light novel) so it wouldn't do to judge Shun's actions by anime standards imo.

Thanks for pointing this out, hopefully that will be the case. Not that I was implying to any fatal ending anyways. More like to another hint to some turning point for him.
Anyways that scene gave me some suspicious aftertaste, it could depends on the standards I was talking about, but even by the fact that he seemed much more mature than a 12 year old boy (is he 12 yo, right?), peculiarity that could be leaning towards the tale path for him.

I keep getting a creepy vibe from this anime. The first episode immediately put the thoughts that weird, strange and creepy things in this anime was going to happen but nothing too striking has happened so far.

It's a pretty interesting anime, i'm hoping it continuous to entertain me throughout

You mean people exploding, burning alive or telekinetically mutilated... on top of schoolkids being "spirited away" by shadow cats, mesmerized by cultists, possessed by spirits, and paralyzed by sentient bionic robots... what can go worse

Haha, those are creepy indeed, the spiritual cat probably being the creepiest from my POV.

But I guess with the things i've seen in anime before, i'm expecting a lot more that can creep me out further

Yeah, I'm in for unreliable narrator, something just seems off about the way the story is being told, or she's lacking vital information.

^...or a character that you like is going to do something bad. The narrator is prob not unreliable as this is all a flashback imo.

But they all are acting mature for their age. You wouldn't let 12 yos go camping by themselves. It's prob the environment.

Interesting fourth episode! Although it was a bit much info at the beginning x_X So now we know how the society in Shinsekai Yori came to be. I liked how they incorporated the flashbacks from the earlier episodes so you could get a feeling of how history progressed.
And the use of juryoku at the end was badass 8D

That was one stingy library, I don't remember my local library ever needing to see my passport and insurance statement just to get a library card.

There's a sense where, even though it's a reveal for the characters, it's not really a reveal for the audience, since a perceptive viewer could have inferred much of what the library said from the flashbacks.

Spoiler:

One thing can be inferred from the latest ep. The knowledge preservers aren't in charge of the current society, even if they set it up in the first place. That archive should have never been a target for destruction if that was the case.

when stress and anxiety between individuals rise, they vent it through intimate sexual behavior.
And Saki and Satoru fight all the time. I know where this is going...

Also, it's implied Saki might have been sexually intimate with Maria, and maybe even with her mother....

Squick by our standards, but then again, this is a society so different to ours it might as well be an alien one. Biologically, mentally, philosophically, etc, their standards and viewpoints are not ours by miles.

That also actually makes the Ship Tease between Saki and Shun clearer. It's rather obvious that alot of the sexual taboos must have collapsed within the intervening thousand years. Twelve is not too young for ahem....

Yeah, I see the Shun/Saki thing as actual romantic feelings, since their relationship is based mainly on emotional intimacy.

Unfortunately Shun is tripping all kinds of death flags being so genre savvy.

What an awesome episode! Now I'm totally confused.

There were a lot of explainations this episode, so I'll probably need to re-watch it. However, the explaination and the flashbacks and all the memories of the kids made everything feel smashed together. It became really confusing, although I think I get the gist of it. Essentially, PK won and people died. This current story is probably with the scientific group, but we are not exactly sure what all their purpose is. There are some dark elements that could arise, and they want to prevent it. What that dark element is, we do not know. However, I bet it is going to be Marie considering the end of episode 2.

whoo lotsa info dump on EP4.

really liked their world building at the moment , answered a lot of questions but opened up a lot more for continuance of interest. About the QUEERATS though i think it's one of those human survivor tribes the library was talking about. Either the Hunter Gatherers or the former slaves. their appearance though might just be a shared Hallucination or Hypnosis for all the PK users in their village as a means of control just like the DEATH FEEDBACK thing.

whut?!! what's that about the mother? err...
