Wow, that was actually a pretty fun first ep. Came in knowing nothing about the manga so this should be an interesting ride.
Fight animation was good but then again, first ep. Let's see if it can keep it up for the rest the run. At least the MC has an obvious male voice... Quote:
Side Note: Anybody else getting tired of the whole Attack-hello and Attack-attack-explain shonen manga/anime routine. Can't people have normal civilized discussions anymore?

Same here. I've heard bad things about the manga, but anime fights are so damn gorgeous. That wasn't just one, but two intense fights in pilot. Do they even have enough budget for the rest of the show?
At the very least the pilot plot isn't your standard harem fare, but I personally thought it was just meh. Touko though is adorable... <3

I can't help but think that the girl is a ripoff of Saber, and instead of Emiya Shirou they had history's strongest disciple Kenichi, and with just one command spell tattooed on their palm

Might be first new show(apart from D Gray Man) that I enjoyed this season.
Sure story was basically very usual(basically discount FSN but without interesting and complex MC) , but maaan, the fights were some of the best I have seen all year. |

Episode 1
This didn't feel much interesting. Kinda boring overall. The comedy didn't work well at all because of the somewhat serious atmosphere it has because of the artwork.. The artwork was good but it didn't work with the kind of comedy it tried to do. The story itself doesn't have any intriguing bits. Probably gonna be about people with tattoos fighting while the bishoujo, Tom and the MC try to get their tattoos or whatever. Doesn't really have much to look forward to. |

Plot seems very by the numbers, but the animation and humor are both very good, especially the fight scenes.... so I expect this is going to be a turn your brain off and enjoy the ride type of show. I also get a Kill La Kill sort of vibe from it, which I rather enjoyed.

Nothing like a good action show to get the blood pumping. The animation looks great, especially during fights that are also amazingly choreographed. The plot looks simple but engaging, and I like the characters, especially Izzie who's both badass and adorable. That's how heroines should be. Definitely goes on my watchlist.

What, the MC is not a wimp and is actually also pretty strong? Impressed. That alone made me enjoy the episode quite a bit, the other factor is Izzie that is a badass and cute at the same time. The plot seems quite average, but I don't care. I also liked the fight choreographies and the humor. Two strong characters, this could made up for that series of the previous season with that two strong kids that sadly didn't work in the slightest for me.
Hopefully it will stick with the martial arts not degenerating into just some long superpower spell casting tattoo sequences
