I think this show is headed in the right direction. It's turning from a guilty pleasure into just a pleasure. Maybe we've seen all these situations before, but interesting characters and relationships are growing. We see Shizuma from a different angle this ep. There's an ironic distance over everything -- like in the ED -- but that's okay.

Episode 6 imo was the shinning moment of the series so far - we got deep down true feelings (well apart from the Hikari & Amane thing going on), then the cute feelings that have been shown around the show.

At this moment, i'm not to sure whats going on with Shizuma - i know that she might use females (like when Nagisa seen her in the forest), but as its been said.. she really is developing feelings for a lil' Nagisa.

Best episode ever. <3

I have a few ideas as to why Shizuma is the way she is. Can't wait to find out more about her backstory.

I don't know about you guys, but the piano scene with Shizuma and Nagisa reminded me a lot of the piano scene with Sachiko and Yumi in Maria-sama ga miteru.

That was hands down the most boring episode thus far. Every time this series tries to show any serious drama it fails. Maybe I just can't take it seriously after the hilarious first episodes but in other cases (Rozen Maiden, Mai-HiME) the change from comedy to drama has not bothered me so I don't think this is the reason. I guess Nagisa enrolling into the cosplay club would have been a better episode.

The whole series is a blatant Marimite ripoff.

People who melt with sap stories probably may not find her backstory disappointing. I personally found it touching and emotional (her past is really quite sad). I actually loved it, much to my surprise... Hopefully, they would bring Shizuma's history to light right before the Etoile battle begins.

Very good episode. We're not yet in drama territory, it's just that the groundwork is being laid right now. And it's a very good sign that the show does NOT try to stay afloat with yuri tidbits, but rather continues to develop the characters.

I'm with the yay-sayers. The direction it takes is just peachy.

*Ehem* When it comes to an all-girls school, you'd know what to expect... Yuri of course, and it wouldn't be Shizuma if she hadn't been involved in a romantic relationship before. The only difference then? She was involved in a real romantic relationship, not roaming around only molesting girls as she's doing now but there's a reason for it...

Be warned... Marimite rippy-offy Sei-like story, but I still love it. I'm a total sap.

The following story is from the novel and the Manga. Not sure whether the Anime will incorporate this plot but it seems very likely they will.

This happened 2 years ago when Shizuma was in her 4th year. One of her friends introduced a girl to her to be her partner in the Etoile battle, and that girl's name is Sakuragi Kaori (Shiori, anyone?). To cut a long story short, the two fell in love. Unfortunately for them, their romance was short-lived because Kaori was terminally ill, and she died not long after. Shizuma was really shattered by her death (she was crying at Kaori's funeral), and since then she has never been seriously involved in another relationship. That's why you may see her as a player, going around striking short romances with girls or playing with them because she hasn't found someone who could really fill the void in her heart. Well... Until Nagisa came along and the story continues...

As for people constantly commenting how this show is a ripoff from Marimite......come on, how do YOU make something original? Let's move the school to Venus instead? and instead of being a school, let's make it an astronaut training facility?.....hmm actually that doesnt sound too bad, however the point is stop comparing everything it just makes you enjoy the world less

Hmm... Guess you're right in that we shouldn't compare series to one another...

But of course, even if I see it as a close imitation of Marimite, I actually find StoPani very very entertaining. In fact, I like it as much as I like Marimite (in the 3 mediums of novel, Manga and Anime), even though the 2 are in different leagues at the moment.

On a personal level, StoPani has become one of my favorite spring series. Hard to believe it myself, but I guess having read the story before contributed to this evaluation. Nevertheless, I still love it despite whether knowing the story beforehand. ^____^
