I had a lot of "what the heck?" moments throughout this episode. I mean...what is Kuon still doing there? Why is Karura and presumably Touka still there? You guys are being invaded! Get your rears in gear and get back home already! I mean sure they are holding the line right now, but their heavy hitters are sitting around during a crisis. Get the heck moving.
I suppose on the positive side at least the group acknowledged that Kuon might be ok with this. Though I'm not sure how one cheers up a person who's country theirs is invading...

Those people are getting on my nerve. Your country are invading Kuon homeland and they want to cheer her up. Like how? I bet if their country is the one that gets invaded they would like to be cheer up from the enemy country too. They even talk about a sight seeing trip after there is peace. Sure, after your homeland gets invaded and possibly burns down to the ground, you are sure to have a mood for sight seeing. The nerve of these people.

It sad that the people of Yamato trust the emperor so much that don't question why Tusukuru needs to be invaded.
Propaganda and lies are now being spread as Tusukuru has isolated Yamato's forces. Fun time is over for Kuon as she has to go back home to fulfill her duties that she neglected. The sad part of it Haku is only doing this out of friendship with Oshutoru and know why his brother is doing this. Which shows to me again like in the Uruusha war his lack of moral fibre. |

Pick your poison: Benawi, Aruruu with Mukkuru, Kamyu, Urutorii... Any of those people will give Munechika trouble. Plus, we don't know if there are new generals that are just as capable. We didn't see Touka this episode neither, so she could a candidate to fight as well. What I want to know is if Kuon herself is capable of leading an army. If she is anything like her father... well... Yamato will be doomed.

Don't you feel weird why they would even bother to establish a hot spring inn in one of the biggest neighbor country? Quote:

It doesn't feel weird since they blatantly stated they were spies. But time for spying is done and gone here. Homeland being invaded and they are some of the top fighters they have. The value they can get from spying should be limited in comparison to the impact they'd have on the battlefield.

Also Benawi and Kurou are more than enough to handle the invaders since they are hyped as Lu Bu tier now. |

WTF with this episode? Okay, so we need to go deliver a package. Kuon disappears.
Suddenly doing a part-time job. Karura...? And now Kuon is back. ...? Makes you want to drop your head on the desk harder than Uragaan does it...

Holy sh*t I hate those filler anime original, I wonder how the director can sink it even more, they just cut the scenes where Haku disguises himself as Oshutoru and trick Nekone or his interaction with his brother about the war.
I'm truly disappointed, can it get even lower? Expected a lot from this adaptation but they really ruined it for me. |

Yeah, I don't really blame the general population. Literally the god of your people who is also your Emperor is saying it's a good idea to invade this country. You are going to presume he's right. All the more so since 99% of them know or don't think they know anyone from that country. It's easy to be ok with invading someone you don't know and thus no reason to be hesitant about attacking.
It's more complicated with the main cast though. They know and care about someone from that country. They should have the major conflict between all that stuff above and purely knowing their friend.

only Haku is in any real position of any power to influence the Emperor
and the only one who knows about it are his proxy nieces / the twins but yeah.. it seems this is all building up to clarify what the the subtitle of the series meant. You have someone who clearly know what's going on is wrong, but is forced to play a certain role anyway. That is his false mask.
