I refuse to believe that man is powerless, he must have some kind of super power or this universe function by the same laws as Dragon Ball Z because there's no way a common martial artist can punch away a sword the size of a building no matter how Badass Normal he can be xDU

Also, for those counting the scheduling of Satelight, we have:

- Aquarion EVOL (though in production for 2 years)
- Moretsu Pirates (but that was delayed from its original airing so the production was well underway)
- Symphogear
- Akb48 anime
- Animation works for the Toki To Towa game by Imageepoch and Bandai Namco Games (and according to the reports, they're doing more than just the cutscenes)

So I guess it's normal that they're having some problems, only SHAFT manages to do it for every work...

What does SHAFT have to do with anything? They aren't doing 5 shows this season, only 1 that I can count and their shows and approachs really have nothing in common with Satelights. Satelight is all about the spectactle, huge animation and music budgets, but often I find they struggle mightly with pacing, basic storytelling mechanics and getting past the conceptual ideas that got the show the greenlight in the first place.

SHAFT seems to be all about working the community experience and acknowledging said community in their works and having a unique and YMMV director/style in Shinbo as a means of covering for weaker animation/music budgets than average.

Well that's kind of a whole other issue that could use it's own general anime topic. Frankly I don't think the producers of Symphogear are the only ones that look like they're rushing projects through the concept stage these days instead of taking the time to make sure they can make it all work for the TV format. They just happen to be one of the few that have been so honest and upfront about it.

Honestly, I don't watch that many shows, so I didn't think it was that common.
Well, hopefully they will manage with what little time they have/had.

Agreed. When she said "I'll try to be a good replacement for Kanade", I shouted (out loud, too) "WTF? What a rudeass thing to say! Bitch!" And then Tsubasa promptly gave her that VERY deserving smack. I know Hibiki didn't have bad intentions, but that was just totally stupid and insensitive.

However, for Miku's sake (because I think she's cute), I hope she doesn't die... I guess... Ugh. =___=;

I'm not dissing SHAFT. But they've consistently shown production issues, problems, etc. So I'd say for them it's pretty much "normal" at this point. Which isn't the case for other studios.

Back on topic, I STILL find the Hibiki hate completely unjustified... Also it was fun to see Aoi Yuuki's performance in the last part of this episode, since I've never heard that kind of voice from her until now (keep in mind that I "knew" of her exsistence as seyuu since Gosick and Madoka)

A fair share of drama this time..
Tsubasa has a long way to go to overcome the loss of her friend and partner.
The fighting parts were nice to watch.

Things not painting on positive colors with Tsubasa because everyone at base is too concerned with the Noise infestation and the American pressure on their government, but there's no sensitiveness or consideration at all for Kanade's legacy; Tsubasa kinds of feeling disgust that everyone is okay with Kanade getting replaced rather than just let her memory to rest in oblivion.

I think the director still thinks Tsubasa as that shy girl two years ago.

She's been putting up a strong front up till now. But seeing the Gungir symphogear on somebody else made Tsubasa snap.

To her Kanade is irreplaceable and newbie taking her place doesn't sit with her. As seen before with the army she gave up being a team player.

Surely Tsubasa will eventually warm up Hibiki as a teammate. But it would be worse for her when she looses another partner. As Hibiki emulates Kanade's "Do not give up on life" to save people.

Compare and contrast with Tsubasa who, yes, had a terrible thing happen to her. More Kanade flashbacks; they just make me feel so damn sorry for Tsubasa. She's gone as far as to rid herself of her emotions and become a tool for killing Noise. At the very least, that’s what she chooses to believe; in actuality, the tears streaming down her face after Hibiki announced that she’d be a good replacement for Kanade show that she hasn’t discarded her emotions at all. I imagine she simply doesn’t know how to deal with the pain. The 2nd branch head is flipping awesome. It’s just too bad his shoes got ruined. I seriously want to see more of Chris. I just love her character design. I think she may very well become my favorite, and on that note, she better ***ing not be killed off, or else.* I did find that her armour was somewhat ridiculous; it covers most of her vital points, yet leaves parts of her chest open. Ah yes, the intricacies of MMORPG armour. I can’t say I don’t like it, though. I guess she must be pretty important since the ED focuses on her. Some scenes in the OP I only noticed while watching the 3rd episode: - A sword. (a relic perhaps?) - A blonde haired woman. (possibly related to what happens in the next screenshot) - A stunned loli Chris. (<3) - Hibiki’s and Miku’s friends?. - Chris and her armour. (God damn, that looks like a super hero mask. ) Seeing Hibiki go berserk was really cool and made me like her more. Too bad that was ruined by her snapping out of it just moments later. Looking forward to seeing more of Chris in episode 4. Hopefully the animation quality picks up too because it was horri-bad in this episode. Last edited by Ray; 2012-01-21 at 17:36.

Then I thought to myself that, maybe, I'm being to harsh in judging her... Until she said that she could be a good replacement for Kanade. And with a smile too! I mean... I know you had good intentions, but to say it like that... I'm lost for words... Not to mention that idiotic words towards the end saying that she also has something to protect so.. so what? What did she wanna say? Please except me Tsubasa? And wow, commander just walked in there (not to mention his suspiciously fast arrival) and stopped the attack. His suit was probably A+ quality, too bad his shoes weren't. And he asked why Tsubasa isn't acting like herself? Umm, hello!? You're like, quite a few years older then her, couldn't you figure it out? Would you maybe think that she will not except Hibiki as she has the power of her previous partner? Not to mention that she is somewhat at fault? It's like half of the cast don't give a shit about Tsubasa's feelings... not to mention that some of them act so nonchalantly. Their lack of seriousness in certain department fail to make some of the drama more believable. But the most important thing is that everyone at the base find Hibiki so interesting. Main hero love syndrom I guess. Tsubasa remembering Kanade again. Now that was painful to see again. Miku is being left out a lot lately so... she has every reason to become yandere in the future. Or a nasty villain. __________________
