Makes sense I forgot though. That fight pretty much erased everything else that happened in the episode from my head .

There's nothing wrong, I only noticed those shots because it was nicely animated & detailed. Plus I think only Miyu's one could be called buttshot.

The episode was indeed awesome and I can't wait to find out what the heck happened to Illya. Apart from maybe a few episodes of the first Fate series, which I dropped for dislike of the main protagonist guy, I'm a virgin to the franchise. I'm watching purely because I love a good magical girl beat down. Most of the discussion in these threads seem to be from fans of the complete Fate landscape so I tend to shy away. I do love this series thus far for its charm. Magical devices scamming girls into the job is pretty hilarious and the fight scenes are awesome and pure eye candy. Glad I didn't have to know anything about the other Fate series to like this one, especially since the first one soured me to watching anything else. |

Guys my eyes are still wet from the excitement. When they started playing the Emiya OST I knew that this would be episode of the year. I'm surprised Silver Link could actually put out something of Ufotable quality, too bad we can't expect anything big like this for the rest of the season.
It's all about that Unlimited Spam Works man. Spam spam spam the money on ep 6.

Damn, that was amazing. I rarely post in episode discussions, but who would have thought I'd witness an episode of such quality from a series I essentially started because Miyu looked like the type of character I enjoy. I can't help but feel Silver Link just spent eight episodes worth of budget during the second half of this episode. Tell me it isn't so. Tell me this isn't the first and last I'll see of such quality from Silver Link. QQ
On another note, if Illya was able to maintain that look and demeanor on a constant basis, she would no doubt be on my favorite character list, and not the "meh" tier she currently resides in. However, this episode alone makes me think better of her. She looked rather...delicious in that getup Also, did I mention how cute the scene with Miyu carrying Illya home was? It really was. I give this episode that magical 10/10 I rarely ever do. The first half may have had its issues, but the second half was a 100/10 and I can't rate the first half low enough to justify anything less than a 10/10.

That was a mind blowing episode! Like a gift that kept on giving.
The only possible gripe is that it screwed with the "power levels" that were established in F/SN...a fake Excalibur shouldn't beat the real thing. Then again, there are many things in the Nasuverse that have conceptual weaknesses. For example, a target with high divinity gets bound most tightly by Gil's chains, when the Leylines are "killed", Arcueid becomes weak, Berserker getting slashed with Caliburn takes out all his remaining lives, etc etc. So you could imagine that the faeries will rather lend their power to a fake sword than one that's corrupted by evil.

What we are seeing with the cards, aside from their inherent bloodlust, is likely the true form of a heroic spirit: a powerful creature incarnated from a being of legend that possess no ego of their own. That's what heroic spirits were actually supposed to be, and normally were. The Servants having actual personalities and wills is not normal for heroic spirits, and is due to the use of Third Magic in the holy grail war. This argument is beside the point, however, because your answer kind of missed my point. Illya's ability to win with her traced Excalibur had nothing to do with any flaws in her opponent, and had everything to do with Illya herself. That was my point.
