I want to give Kawaki the benefit of doubt and just say Mitsuki got the jump on him, because otherwise we're in a situation where all the antagonists except potentially the new ones are complete jokes.

The fact that a simple snake bite was able to put Kawaki out of commission is pretty funny. I thought that kind of stuff didn't work on Ohtsutsuki.

Wait a second... the manga used a flashback for the first time? Also, it's insane how poweful Boruto became after training with Sasuke and working with the traitor from Kara. I remember that at least in the anime Sasuke advised the kid to create his own lightning based techniques which he know combines with the chokuto. Still, I'm glad they decided to give more screentime to Mitsuki.

So the guy who wants to kill Naruto whose identity is otherwise vague is apparently "an incarnation of the same tailed beast" as Naruto... somehow? And apparently the reason Himawari was so overwhelming to Damion or whatever that brat's name was is because she contains the same tailed beast chakra as Naruto and this guy.

Overall the series is still up its own ass, but I find this particular stuff to be interesting.

Some years back, at the beginning of the Boruto franchise, Kishimoto drew an illustration featuring Sarada with MS, Mitsuki in sage mode, and Boruto in 9 tails chakra mode. I guess chakra mode ended up being moved to Himawari since Boruto got Karma.

Does she only have the chakra, or is there some little Kurama inside her?

They all have rinnegan. It originates from the Juubi/Divine tree, after all.
