They tried a new style of drawing >_> XD Omg...
XD Animation-intern-day XD I guess so... Although I can't say that I don't like an anime who varies between styles... One great example would be the Animatrix and even Noein. They constantly vary animation-wise, but still are great... The story in this episode is superb. 9/10. |

If you're not deterred by spoilers, go to the Q&A Spoiler section and dig around. The answer is there and you'll just have to piece things together. 'Nuff said. BTW, I've heard people exclaim 'he's already there? WTF?' Is it too soon compared to the game's timeline or what? Knowing *what* he is...

Okay, I finally saw the ep a couple of hours ago. The animation was pretty nice. They all looked a tad skinner too, less big, chubby-ish. So it didn't really look good on the guys but for the girls, they made them look cuter :X
I don't think they should've made that transition back to the old style in the second half. They should've just went with the new animation the whole ep through since they've already started off with it. |

Well after watching that episode I found that the animation was kind of distracting. Although the 'intern' animators did a good job, especially with the fighting scenes, when compared to what we've been seeing for 13+ episodes, it just bothers me a lot because of the differences in body size, etc. :P
Overall a decent episode, good fighting scenes, and it's good to see Touka finally joined Hakuoro. Niue's cackle sounds so very broken <shudder>, I hope he'll drop dead next episode. ^^ |

I realize most people are being sarcastic when they say "intern animators", but I couldn't help myself but to clearfy this.
The man responsible for first half of episode 14, Naoto Hosoda, is in no way a intern or an amature. He's known for well animated smooth animation, with signature style that may look less detail than others. In case of animation, most value animation over "well drawn still pictures". The first half of episode 14 was amazingly well done, but because his style is very distinct, having him as guest causes inconsitency with rest of the series. Animator with similar style but even more well known, Norio Matsumoto, has the same problem. Awesome animation, but so unique in style that it looks totatlly diffrent from other episodes. he has noticeable flaws.. very dynamic animation but his still frames look as if they came from Musashi Gundou
His style is affectionately/sarcastically called Velka style animation (ref: Nanoha A's) yes, quite a lot of people like it..... IN SMALL DOSES.... |

The infamous "Velka style" animation is Yoshinari Saitou. Hosoda was NOT involved in Nanoha A's oddball animation whatsoever. |
