this episode covered 5 manga chapters, tat a lot!! i think the prefecture tornament will finish next week or the following since Saki just finish the 2nd last round i think, it's weird, everybody calls Saki "Kiyosumi's 5th" as if they dunt kno her name, like do the other ppl from the other skools kno her name or not? considering tat in ep.3 tat nodoka said tat miyanaga teru won last yrs spring n summer tornament, i think ppl should of started spectulating like the mahjong reporters, in the end, i guess ryumonbuchi was nothing at nationals

The ending seems promising...with bigger chance to continue the unpublished manga plotline, where Saki win against Koromo and Kiyosumi go to the nationals and fight with Saki's sister there. But i'm afraid things gonna get cramp on that point, since its only about 6-8 more episodes left before Saki ends, and i'm sure they won't miss a filler episode in between it.

Of course that cramp thingy won't happen if the ending is a troll ending, featuring massive fillers of *coughyurifapcough* between the girls for 6-8 episodes. And i'm gonna cry zetsubou whole days if they ever plan to end Saki that way.

Damn Saki...really got me hooked so badly into it =.+'''

Playing without socks as a power up. Clearly, Saki has outdone herself again.

Well should be the whole Kiyosumi team has their own way of power up-ing.
Nodoka - hugging a penguin doll
Yuki - tacos
Mako - not wearing glasses
Saki - not wearing anything on the leg
Hisa - eating banana and drink milk
Kyou - (possibly) eating a girl's lunch set

Hisa's burning fist is an active. Next tile slam stuns all opponents for 1 round.

Speaking of, hasn't anyone noticed Nodoka's attachment to her huge mounds of fat? I didn't think she was the type.

I did notice that and I laughed pretty hard. Had to pause and then go back and rewind it just to make sure I didn't mishear her comment.

It's not just "during flashbacks", the curve of quality of animation this episode is just plain chaotic. It's as though GONZO outsourced the drawing to several studios of wildly varying experience level (true to some extent).

This isn't even limited to the Kiyosumi:
(Ryuumonbuchi)
Touka - cover her right eye with her hair (Lance of Longinus mode)
Hajime - detach her chains (never actually be done anywhere)
Koromo - wait until full moon. Only Piccolo can reliably stop her.
(Kazekoshi)
Mihoko - open her sapphire-blue right eye (Mystic Eye of Flow Perception)

It's interesting how Mihoko and Touka have opposite method of activating their power. It probably says something about their alignment. (Lawful Good versus Chaotic EvilEvil).

@Quarkboy
So, how is your plan to break into the mangaka's house to steal unpublished materials meet the mangaka going? I thought it would be last weekend.

edit - the Yuuki tacos you mentioned just got blogged in a certain site prone to abuse of thesaurus. OK, now i properly wtf'd.

Dunno if this little mini-game has been linked here before, but it's a handy trainer for counting, knowing when you're in tenpai, when to ron, when you can go riichi, etc. It's all in Japanese, but ロン is ron, ツモ is tsumo, リーチ is riichi, and カン is kan. That's all you really need to know to play. (It also lies to you frequently, and will chombo the heck out of you if you ron when you shouldn't!)

I saw it linked on the reachmahjong forums earlier today, and spent a good hour or two driving myself nuts. I figured I'd pass it on.

The thigh shots are normal. It's all the foot shots lately (especially from Saki's POWER UP) that are little o_O

(I'll bet Jaalin is happy, though...)

Someone made this showing Saki's hand progression during her sankantsu. It's awesome.

Ep 18 was good. Now if only the next episode isn't as flashback heavy as this one then it would be even better
But Saki sure did troll everyone with her cheap hands. Any normal person there would think that she has a death wish and poor Kana for suffering all the damn time to Saki...she could have made a comeback by now but her Kokushi-Musou and another Yakuman hand was taken away from her. Poor girl.
But I have to admit, her 3 concealed kan trick at the end was pro...if not impossible

And they actually did say something else about "in this year's rules" as predicted. hah.

@the video: Silly japaneses. They can't come up with a decent choreography even with a specialized program.
