Story where the hero's entire purpose is centered on a girl

Odd request, but I'm looking for series where, at least for a very large portion of the time, the core of the hero's "quest" is centered entirely on a female love interest. Maybe he's trying to win her love or secure their future like in Ginen Shounen; perhaps he's trying to save her like in Tokyo Underground or a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V; maybe he's just trying to find a way to make her happy. The point is that the hero's "quest" is centered on that girl.

I have two requirements. First, nothing that's pure romance. Romantic with a twist like GS mentioned above, where the guy sees the future and is trying to outsmart someone else and find a way to change the future for Mirai if not himself, is fine. But not something that's 100% pure romance like My Love Story. I love those series but still I'm not looking for something that straightforward; I want something with actions made for that girl or on her account. It's a blurry line but still. Second, since I mentioned aiming to make the girl happy, one particular plotline is absolutely out. I've seen a number of stories where the hero is friends with the heroine and their chemistry is awesome, but she likes a cooler guy who she's really awkward with and ultimately chooses that cooler guy over the better match. It's one thing to pursue the girl's happiness without regard for his own. It's another to see the girl dump an awesome hero for some other guy. The only way I can accept this is if there's another girl who's better for him that he just didn't notice.

Besides the series mentioned above, other series include Elemental Gelade, Tsubasa Chronicle, and to an extent DanMachi. As the last would suggest, harem is acceptable, as long as a lot of the hero's motivation is one particular girl.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu - the day restarts every time MC dies and only he remembered the events. As a result he ends up using this power to protect the girl he likes.

If the "hero" can be female, then Akemi Homura from Madoka Magica fits this.

Sword Art Online has Kirito focused on saving or protecting girls most of the time, though it's not always the same girl. And I watched a very bad show, not recommended at all, called Dragonaut: the Resonance where the hero's every other line is his girlfriend's name.

I think the best fit for your request is Zetsuen no Tempest, I really think you would love it.

Its very hard to describe the anime without spoiling so ill just say that the whole story is centered on a guy that will do the impossible to discover what happened to the girl he loved the most

I know I recommend it a lot, but have you seen Full Metal Panic yet?

I've actually been leading a group watch of the series in preparation for the upcoming new season. Though you'd have some catch up to do since we just finished season one.

Oh yes I've seen it. A truly awesome series, all seasons. My favorite is Fumoffu, but the serious stuff is also awesome and is indeed a good fit to my request.

And yes, SAO also fits well, particularly in what may be my favorite arc (and almost everyone else's least favorite).

I'll add Oh! Edo Rocket to this list. Once Sora shows up at Seikichi's house he focuses entirely on fulfilling his promise to build her a rocket to the moon.

I prefer the Shinsen fansub to the Funimation version. The latter is heavily "localized" in places. The Shinsen translator provided notes.
