Not to mention that I'd like comments on things specifically in the chapter. Anything that sticks out. Cuz I write, and I really like a specific scene that I did, but I get no comments on any scenes, it makes me go "did anyone even like it?" even if I get comments saying "good job", I sometimes wonder if anyone even read any of the scenes.

I know what you mean. In G-Squad I thought I wrote a nice scene showcasing the bond between Otto and Deed, two lesser used characters. But generally the stuff that gets comments is the hilarious stuff and romance. Sorta like how it's mainly NanoFate stories on ff.net that get tons of comments.

But as I've said time and again, you just gotta write for yourself. People will read or not, comment or not, but if you focus on your story, you'll find those that enjoy it. Crisis and RJD still gets almost 1,000 visitors a month(almost 2k hits) despite the low numbers of reviews, and it's mainly because I just wanted to write a story and if some people enjoyed it, that's enough. I can't speak to your traffic, but I gather people are reading, which means they enjoy it, even if they don't comment.

So take some heart.^^ There's also people like me, who don't tend to read things until they're complete, because if chapters are sparse, I forget what happened before and have to re-read, heh. And I just like to read things in one setting, like I do with books. Just the comfort of knowing the whole story is there. Pet peeves of mine are stories that drag on, or are never finished, heh. I hate getting into something, only to have years go by with no updates and no conclusion.

Yeah, I'll admit to that, too. Though as I said, I don't tend to read things unless they are complete. And yeah, I'm not sure how the OC scene is for this fandom, but I've never been too big on fics focusing on OC's; just not my thing, although more power to ya as long as you write something you enjoy.^^

The fact that Shadowsverse fics--and, by extension, any non-shipping or non-romance fic that isn't crack--getting attention is fairly recent.

I distinctly remember when writing A Path Through Remembrance, that nobody commented on it (except for RB and Dezo, really) and others *coughtk* flamed me for it. At that point, every little romance fluff/drabble/lemony-flavored thing would get 458532753 pages of comments and discussion.

I think it's only fair that those of us who don't write romance get a shot at having our work discussed and critiqued.

Ehh, some people do like it, since I use a mostly-harmless OC (Kevin). Plus, the most recent one has the Materials (and Reinforce, indirectly) entering the cast as permanent members. The other OC (Noland), I have a smaller audience but they like it too, so I guess I'm satisfied (though I'd like more readers, but doesn't everyone?). The OC scene... well, we have a dedicated thread to it, something that many other series on ASuki don't.

Yes, Kaon is The Shiny Sword's OC, and I'm gradually writing more. I guess you've already visited my index (link is sig image).

I'm actually surprised at how well-received Celica Iris-Lynnfield has been. FFT usually doesn't like OCs, but I think the acceptance factor is pretty much fueled by how RB has embraced my little morally ambiguous computer nerd.

Also that cooking-themed fic was awesome, please do continue it! And continue with the recipies!

That much is implied, but only RB's fics are specifically focused on romance.

Dezo's is not, SoJ's is focused on Chrono.

false light is uh, well there is that little exchange between Vivio and Lutecia early on, but the genre is suspense and action, not romance.

I'm not bashing you, I'm just saying it's nice to finally be getting my inane ramblings discussed, and more specifically, critiqued. Yeah, it's "just fanfiction," but any critique will help me improve my writing skills.

Now if only I can actually work on my original stuff. The problem is, I lose interest in these things if I don't have anyone to share my creations with. Nobody I know really wants to peer into my head and my original works--RB does occasionally, but the conversation generally winds up turning back to Nanoha fanfiction. Somehow. I don't know.

Well, while the flamers factor into it a bit, I think what's worse is that this community we have here which is supposed to be supportive isn't being very supportive. I've noticed in the past few weeks that any fic not set in the Shadowverse gets only one or two comments. Heck, the past few chapters of Nanya's Day in the Life have only me and deathcurse saying anything about them. Maybe people are just busy or on vacation or something, but then again as said before any Shadowverse fic posted gets pages of discussion. Heck, I had posted 2 fic ideas not too long ago but no one even acknowledged their existence.

It would just be nice to know that people care and appreciate the work of others, even if all they have to say is "I liked it." That's why it's my vow to review everything I read so that no one else feels neglected.

Truth be told, I must admit that I could be saying more. I'm by nature a taciturn person and struggle to contribute anything useful to a discussion; if you might have noticed from my FF.Net profile, I was too enthusiastic in fav-ing things back in the day, and seem to have made a 180 now.

Oh, and any chance of updating Three's Company?

Honestly, I've noticed Nanoha readers on FF.net tend to be pretty taciturn as a whole; I consider a chapter in one of my multi-chapter fics successful if it gets three reviews before I post the next one. I know more people than that are reading them, because I'll get messages saying the story has been put on alert or so forth, but they don't review.

By contrast, check out my story list sometime and see what the Bleach fandom reviews like. I'll give you a hint: it's the one story that has almost literally ten times more reviews than all of my Nanoha fics. Combined. Granted, most of them are a few words long at best, but it still feels nice that they took the time to type those few words.

I am re-playing Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, but I've played it a bajillion times so it's not really new.

I am in a fantasy mood after FO3, but I intend to play Metro 2033 eventually. Already done S.T.A.L.K.E.R., all three. CoP was best.

Thinking about Dragon Age.

The story so far: Nanoha and Fate go on a romantic getaway, leaving Yuuno to babysit Vivio.

When Yuuno woke up, he felt an unfamiliar weight on his arm. He peeked under the covers to see that the small child had latched onto him at some point during the night; her angelic face remained lax with sleep.

Not wanting to wake her, Yuuno lay back down and closed his eyes. He couldn’t remember the last time he let himself sleep in.

He suddenly felt like he was forgetting something.

Didn’t Vivio have to go to school?

“Crap!” Yuuno shot up and looked at his clock. It was twenty after seven and school started at eight. “Vivio, wake up!” He gently prodded the girl.

“Good morning…” She mumbled, rubbing her eyes. She looked confused for a moment, but then remembered where she was. “… Yuuno-san.”

“Hurry up and put your uniform on.” He instructed, quickly grabbing clothes for himself. “Aaah… We’re going to be late…” Things had gone so well the night before that Yuuno had let his guard down. He rushed out of the room to change while Vivio slowly went over to her bag and took out her school uniform.

Yuuno made it to the kitchen before she did, but there was no time to make a decent breakfast. He imagined that Nanoha and Fate would cook a balanced meal every morning, but today Vivio would have to settle for a bowl of cereal.

Yuuno shovelled his cold meal into his mouth, while Vivio didn’t seem to be in any particular rush. They went about brushing their teeth in a similar manner.

“Do you have everything, Vivio?” He asked, checking his clock. It was seven thirty-five.

“I don’t have a lunch.” She said, prompting Yuuno to slap a hand over his face. He hadn’t planned for a bento, so he fished out his wallet and gave the girl some money.

“You’re going to have to buy something at the school store, ok? I’ll make sure you have a lunch tomorrow.”

“Ok!” Vivio replied as she stuffed the bills into her pocket. They hurried off and went through the procedure to get down to the surface, and Yuuno slowed down when the Saint Church run magic school was in sight.

“Looks like we made it…” He sighed.

“Good morning, Vivio!”

Vivio turned around at the call. “Ah! Corona! Good morning!”

Corona noticed Yuuno and gave him a polite bow. He returned the gesture.

“Well, Vivio, I guess we’ll part here.” He said. “I’ll be back to pick you up when school is out.”

“Ok! See you later, Yuuno-san!” She waved as he departed.

“Who was that person?” Corona asked her friend.

“That’s Yuuno-san, some one who’s known my mamas for a long time! I’m staying with him while my mamas are on vacation.”

“I see.” Corona replied. “How is it so far?”

“Good!” Vivio beamed. “I like Yuuno-san! He’s really nice!”

Yuuno finally relaxed as he sunk into his chair at the library. It certainly had been one hectic morning, and he would make sure history didn’t repeat itself. But he had gotten the girl safely to her school on time so now he could focus on the stack of books on his desk.

As usual, Chrono had requested a mountain of material from him, however compared to Vivio, it was certainly an easier task. Yuuno searched for the list he had made of the books the admiral wanted, but he couldn’t quite remember where it had ended up.

He eventually found it after getting on all fours and looking under his desk. When he rose, his eyes met a familiar rear end that had propped itself up on the corner of his desk.

“Good morning, Yuuno-kun.” Owner of said rear end cheerfully greeted.

“Same to you, Hayate.” He said back, looking up at his visitor.

Of all his childhood friends, Hayate was the one who utilized the library the most. Being a special investigator, she was always assigned to the more rare and bizarre cases. As such, knowing what she was up against took a lot more research. She was a familiar enough face that the entire female staff would cover their chests when they saw her.

Naturally, Yuuno would assist her personally. Sometimes they’d spend hours in the stacks together, searching for relevant information. Yuuno might not have been that close to Hayate when they were kids, but now he considered her a friend on the same level as Nanoha and Fate.

“What can I do for you today?” He asked.

“Nothing, really.” She answered. “I just came to thank you. That information you got me really helped in closing that case I was working on.”

“Oh right, that one. That sure was an obscure item you came across.”

“Once I knew what it did, taking down the culprit was a breeze.”

“I’m glad I was able to assist you.”

“So in return I thought you’d like to know,” Hayate leaned in closer. “Your assistant’s bust has gained a centimetre.”

“Please stop groping my employees.” He frowned. If it was one thing his friend seemed to love the most, it was getting a rise out of him. Over time he had developed a bit of a tolerance to her teasing.

“No good, huh…? Ok, then how about I let you check on my growth?” She purred, puffing her chest out.

“Stop teasing me like that.” Yuuno flushed a little. It was just a bit of tolerance.

“Me? Tease you? Why, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She fluttered her eyelashes innocently.

“Such a trouble maker as usual.”

“Oh? Whatever do you mean?” She stuck her tongue out this time.

“Remember last year’s Halloween party?”

“… At least everyone kept their clothes on that time.” She smirked. Yuuno groaned and covered his face with his hand to hide his blush.

“You had to remind me…”

“You know you enjoyed it.” Satisfied she’d gotten him that flustered, she laughed, the sound of it never failing to turn his frown upside down. One never stayed mad at Hayate Yagami for long. “Fine then. To make it up to you, how about I treat you to a fancy dinner tonight?”

Yuuno coughed, as he often did, to regain his composure. “Sorry, but I have to pass. I’m looking after Vivio now.”

“Oh yeah, that’s right.” Hayate bopped her fist into her upturned palm in realization. “Nanoha-chan and Fate-chan are on their little getaway right now. Guess I lost track of the date.” Her smile seemed to wane a little, but then grew into a grin. “Well, if that’s the case… I guess it can’t be helped.” She hopped down from the desk. “I’ll see you around then, Yuuno-kun.”

Yuuno was actually kind of surprised by the brevity of her visit. She wasn’t one to give up so easily.

As Yuuno was accustomed to working long hours into the night, he couldn’t remember the last time he clocked out when the sun was still up. He bid his employees good day and made his way to the school Vivio attended. When he arrived he saw the girl waiting for him at the gate.

“Yuuno-san!” She waved when she saw him.

“Hey Vivio,” he smiled when he reached her. “Are you all ready go to?”

“Yup!” She took his hand and they begun walking back.

“So how was school today?”

“It was a lot of fun!” She beamed. “We got to watch a movie about the founding of the Saint Church!”

“Oh? That must have been interesting, especially for you.”

“It was kinda weird.” She giggled. “But the Saint Kaiser was amazing!”

“I’m sure you’ll grow up to be a person just like her.” He assured her.

“I want to be more like Nanoha-mama, though!” She decided. “I’ll become a mage just like her!”

“… For everyone’s sake, I hope you become some one much more… reserved than Nanoha.” Yuuno chuckled nervously.

“What do you mean?” Vivio blinked up at him.

“Just remember, everything in moderation… especially attack magic.”

“Moderation…” The child repeated slowly, committing the word to memory.

When they returned to the apartment, Vivio quickly scampered off to change out of her uniform. Yuuno merely loosened the top buttons of his shirt and dropped down onto his couch. The child joined him there a few minutes later.

“Now, what should we do tonight?” He wondered out loud.

“Well, I have some homework to do.” Vivio informed him.

“Anything you need help with?”

“Hmmm… I don’t know.” She admitted.

“Well, if you need help just let me know, ok?”

“Ok!” Vivio ran off again and returned with her backpack. She sat on the floor, taking out her books and placing them on the coffee table in front of her.

Smiling when he saw her pull out a pencil with a bunny shaped eraser, Yuuno considered what he should do in the meantime. Going over to his bookshelf, he decided on a tome about the ancient Lucrecian Empire that he hadn’t read in awhile and sat back on the couch. It would serve as a decent time waster until he had to start preparing dinner.

Time passed in relative silence, only interrupted by the occasional “hmmm” and “aha!” from the little girl. Just when Yuuno slipped in a bookmark and got up to head to the kitchen, his doorbell rang.

“Hm? I’m not expecting anyone…” He wondered.

“I’ll get it!” Vivio bounced to her feet and dashed to the door.

“Hold on, Vivio.” Yuuno followed after her. “We don’t know who…”

“Ah!” He heard Vivio’s surprised squeak and quickly poked his head around the corner.

“Ah!” He also made a surprised noise when he saw the brunette in the threshold.

“Commander Hayate!” Vivio cheered, wrapping her arms around the older woman’s legs.

“Good evening Vivio, Yuuno-kun.” Hayate greeted, smiling down at the girl.

“Hayate?” Yuuno blinked. “What are you doing here?”

“Sorry for intruding.” She stepped in once Vivio let her go. “I hope you don’t mind.”

“No, it’s ok. I’m just confused.” He answered.

“I still need to show my thanks, remember? And since I can’t take out to dinner…” She lifted the plastic bag she held in one hand. Through the translucent plastic Yuuno could see vaguely make out various food wrappers. “I decided to take the dinner to you.”

“You didn’t need to…”

“Well, I did.” Hayate stuck out her tongue. “You don’t mind having dinner with me, right Vivio?”

“Not at all!” Vivio grinned.

“That settles it then!” Hayate grinned back. Yuuno sighed, clearly having no choice in the matter. Not that he was against it or anything; he would be a real moron if he turned down a chance to eat Hayate’s legendary cooking. He just didn’t want to trouble her.

“Well, if you’re ok with it…” Yuuno said.

“If I wasn’t I wouldn’t be here.” Hayate assured him before heading further inside. She had never been to her friend’s apartment before, but it was as sparsely decorated and efficient as she thought it would be. She easily spotted the kitchen with her initial sweep and entered it, setting her groceries on the table. She then spun around to the two blondes that had followed her.

“It’ll take a bit, so you two go find something to do, ok?” She said.

“Of course I’ll assist you.” Yuuno said.

“I’ll help too!” Vivio added.

“Thanks for the offer, but I’ll be just fine on my own.” Hayate smiled back.

“But…” Vivio began to protest but Hayate crouched down to the girl’s eyelevel.

“This is something special I’m doing just for you and Yuuno-kun, so it’s important that I do it on my own. I promise you can help me next time, ok?”

“Ok!” Vivio brightened upon hearing that last part and went back to her homework. Yuuno remained.

“I really should lend a hand.” He said.

“I appreciate it, Yuuno-kun, but like I said, this is something I’m doing for you, so it won’t mean as much if you help me with it.” Hayate replied, putting her hands on her hips before turning away from him. He watched silently as she went through his cupboards, learning where everything is.

“So your cutting board is up here…” She mumbled, opening the very top cupboard. Yuuno watched in amusement as Hayate attempted to reach the board on the top shelf but only grabbed air. Even hopping on her tip toes wasn’t enough.

Even if Hayate often got the better of him, there was one thing Yuuno could always, quite literally, hold over her.

“Need help?” he couldn’t help asking with a grin. The girl turned to him with that pouty expression she always wore when he pointed out her lack of height.

“Geeze Yuuno-kun, I said I can handle it!” She huffed, making her way over to him and pushing him out of the room. “You just go play with Vivio.”

Yuuno knew she wouldn’t listen to any objections, so he let himself be kicked out of his own kitchen. He chuckled softly upon hearing the sound of a chair being dragged across the floor and then he rejoined Vivio who had resumed scribbling in her notebook.

...so, assuming there are any other Kingdom Hearts fans here, what does everybody think of these conspiracy theories/Wild Mass Guessings that I'm incorperating into my crossover fics?

er... take note I haven't looked into most of the supplementary material yet, or actually... played Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. So if anything in here is inaccurate... it's my fault, because I Did Not Do The Research. ^^;;

• Vexen/Even is Alicia's biological father.
  
  Seeing as how it's completely up to fans of both series to decide how the timeline of KH aligns with the timeline of Nanoha, assuming you place both at the right time, this can make sense chronologically. The scenario plays out as such:
  
  Several years before either KH: Birth by Sleep or the first season of Nanoha, Precia was married to Even, and they had a daughter by the name of Alicia. Even was away on business... somewhere... when the incident that killed Alicia happened. After Precia was exiled, Even decided to go incognito and became an apprentice and scientist under Ansem the Wise in Radiant Garden. It was about four years later when MGLN happened, and another five or so before BBS happened.
  
  Firstly, with that sort of timing, Vexen would be about the right age. Ignoring the complications behind whether or not Nobodies age (Tetsuya Nomura has said "no", all implications point to "yes"... I think it's based on one's mentality, personally), Vexen was, IIRC, about forty when he became a Nobody. Subtract nine total years between Nobody-ification and the Alhazard Incident, plus another three or four years for how old Alicia would've been when she died, and Vexen would've been in his late-twenties when Alicia was born.
  
  Further more, this explains where Fate would've gotten her blond hair, since her mother had purple hair and we see none of Fate's other biological relatives. If Vexen/Even had heard about Project F, this would explain his fascination with cloning and the Replicas.

  This might also make Repliku and Xion Fate's adopted siblings.
  
  
• Axel and Saix were training to be mages right before they became a Nobodies. Further more, Axel is Erio's older brother.
  
  This is more a pure fanfiction idea that I had to modify when BBS came out, but here's the scenario:
  
  Lea and Isa, Axel's and Saix's Somebodies, were in training to be mages. They were in the academy, but probably hadn't gotten their Devices yet (this would explain that weird frisbee thing I've seen Lea holding in pictures - I imagine he would've had a Device that looks like a giant ninja star. Or something). They come home to Radiant Garden for some downtime... and BAM! Heartless disaster. Stuff goes bad and next thing you know, you're waking up in Twilight Town without a Heart.
  
  As for Axel/Lea being Erio's older brother... did we ever get confirmation that Erio's parents were... hang on... *runs to Nanoha wikia* never mind. Lea might've been old enough that he moved to another world on his own, with his buddy Isa. It would explain the WTF-hair colors (as Axel/Lea has bright, bright red hair and Saix/Isa has blue hair. The only Radiant Gardianians we've seen with hair color anywhere near that is Ienzo, with his white hair, which even then could just be really light blond), and considering Nanoha moved to Mid-Childa when she was, presumably, a little older than Lea, he and Isa striking out on their own wouldn't be too out of the question.
  
  Further more, didn't Erio's parents seem a little old when we saw them? They looked about the right age to have both a 16+-year-old son and a much younger one. I theorize that the boy Erio was cloned from died about a year (give or take a few months) after Lea became a Nobody -- it would've been their parents' despair over losing both their children that lead them to clone and replace Erio.

  Allowing for differences in artistic style, doesn't Axel/Lea look a bit like the older Erio? Plus, they have similar spiky red hair.

And then the rest are purely fanfic-type things, like Master Xehanort having the Darklings of Nanoha, Fate, and Yuuno on stand-by, or Sora's outfit in KH2 functioning as a Barrier Jacket.

Or an alternate universe that plays like a Fusion Fic of KH and Nanoha. >w>;
