Decent episode, but imo they could have used more time to establish new things, rather than the things we already know.

Enjoying this new arc a lot so far. The theatrical animation style makes it more appealing than before.

Still, what was all that about OS canonicity?

I would have liked continuing more directly from last week's cliffhanger. But such is.

Appears the speculation about that attack damaging the device they implanted into Kirito seems probable. Might explain why he mostly has his real world memories. Although it doesn't explain why the heck he's in this virtual world.

Not a bad episode. But just managed to settle Kirito back into this specific virtual setting while leaving a ton of questions to be answered later.

Spoiler for Episode 2 Comments/Feedback:

So a different timeline without Kirito as their childhood friend but the same story with Alice, I'm sure they will find some way of making it to central city.

Rock hard bread, that's not much fun to eat, and swinging an axe is not quite the same as a sword.

Way to go Kirito, you really showed up that Zink fellow, maybe he will have more respect for other people now, at least we know Krito will be able to use various sword skills, this will be a big help later, surely lots of fight ahead in the future.

Insert random naked woman at the end, she must have some important role to play, she was also in the opening so we most likely see a lot more of her eventually.

Could be waiting a while before we get to know what happened to Kirito at the end of episode 1.

Anyone else think the lighting and animation effects look similar to ufotable's? I'm getting UBW vibes.

Kirito is unable to logout? He is unable to remove his helmet by hands?
Isn't it too dangerous for players.

The lighting and the colors, yes. But the animation? Maybe we have to see more. Either way, it's nice to see such upgrade in art quality. Let's hope that the fight scenes are as satisfying as those from Ufotable.

I'm more concerned about the story tho. The pace is a little bit slow, especially compared to something like Index.

Well, Alicization anime will be about 50 episodes, then I guess it's going to take his time on worldbuilding.

Really felt like this was only half an episode. Pretty disappointed. They need to step up and not make it take another month before anything happens again.

This season sure seems to have gotten a monster budget, despite Ep01&02 giving the feel there's also a lot of animation tricks alongside the cinematic/Ufotable atmosphere-style to make it seem like there's a lot of work and money spent on each episode.
Anyways, I'm digging it. It may have seemed like the episode was a bit slow, especially the "break" part between Kirito & Eugeo, but overall it was a nice episode

It's had been announced that Alicization anime will be about 50 episodes (4 cours).

It's likely they will divide Alicization anime in two parts.

Yeah, I totally forgot that this one is gonna be 4 cours. It's too early to say how the production will be, but I very much prefer this color "style" they're going for for lack of a better term(similar to Ordinal Scale's animation). I wouldn't mind if they took breaks between cours to keep it consistent and nice.

You guys are giving me huge amounts of trepidation but so far, this episode managed to avoid most of the common pitfalls of an Isekai and made the world an eerie, surreal place Kirito wants to escape out of rather than an unashamed escapist wish-fulfilment. And whilst the signs of Kirito worship are there, it's been kept under control for now. I can only wonder how long this'll last...

With this'll season having about 50 episodes, I guess the slow pacing in the beginning shouldn't be a surprise. Hope they don't use the episode count to take things too soon.

They may end up pacing the arc according to where may be a good stopping place for each cour, who knows...

And there is also the issue of maintaining the art quality for such a long season. Not sure if their budget can keep this up.
