Are there any poor tsunderes in anime? I recently made a list of my top favorite of all time and i quickly noticed the trend that all of them had large amounts of money and come from a good background, at least for social standings.

If there are any, i would love some help knowing who they are.

Being a fan of tsunderes, I can think of a few whom come from poor backgrounds...

Funimo Serizawa from Mayoi Neko Overrun, she's an orphan so thus very poor.

Akari Kirishima from Nyan Koi, from a not-so-well-off shrine so poor.

Played and acts as Rich[they use to be, but aren't anymore], but is really almost completely broke, Mio Aoyama from Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai.

Sora Kasugano from Yosuga no Sora.

Debately tsundere or not, but Kuroneko from Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai is from at best very low middle class family.

There are a number of others from vague but clearly not-rich families, or just from normal ones, but aren't poor either.

Can't think of any off the top of my head though many are just middle class and some are kind of outside the usual financial hierarchy of society (such as Shana).

Misaki from Kaichou Wa Maid Sama's poor and a tsundere.

The World God Only Knows has one:

Ranma 1/2: Akane Tendo came from an upper middle class background, (they own a dojo), but it seemed that her family had fallen on hard times, and had been broke for quite sometime. Perhaps even a few generations (the dojo being inherited).

Maison Ikkoku: Kyoto Onatashi came from middle class modern Japan, married into an upper middle class family, and then after being widowed was living on the poorer end of the income scale.

Chrono Crusade: Rosette Christopher was an orphan

Hayate the Combat Butler has the poor Hinagiku in addition to the rich Nagi

Those are the ones I can think of as being "poor". There are many many more that are just middle class.

I believe most tsunderes have an average financial background, it's the ojou-samas that are rare.

Yui, Kagami, Haruhi, and Kyou are from vague middle class, but not rich I suppose, and Shana isn't poor really, since she's outside of our economic system really

If I sat down and really thought, I could come up with a list.. But a few that come straight to mind right now

Mitsuki, Sohara -Sora no Otoshimono
Sumiyoshi, Kanako - Nyan Kio
Haruna + Seraphim - Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?

Oh was 2 or 3 in Kemeko DX too, dont feel like looking up there names.

Well some people have the impression that Tsunderes are often well-off or rich, it isn't true. Somehow i can think of more Tsunderes that are of average to poor financial backgrounds compared to those of rich backgrounds.

One that easily comes to mind is of course Aoyama Mio from Kami Nomi, her story itself also deals with her being poor.
