There's also a shounen light novel series by the same author and illustrator (Inumura Koroku and Morisawa Haruyuki) that's titled To Aru Hikuushi he no Koiuta (とある飛空士への恋歌) and being published under the same shounen light novel label Gagaga Bunko. This light novel series is 3 volumes long and still ongoing. I know that its related to this light novel (To Aru Hikuushi he no Tsuioku) but as to how much its related, I have no idea... and will "some stuff" from these light novels be also incorporated in the anime movie???

O_O The title is eerily similar to Toaru Majutsu no Index (とある魔術の禁書目録).

My thoughts exactly. When I saw the thread title, my first thought was

".............is this supposed to be another Toaru spin-off?"

Yes, I thought this was the second spin-off of Index next to Railgun.
Exactly, they have no relationship. But "To Aru Hikuushi" is good action novel. I like it.

Eh, I also thought this was related to Index/Railgun

Animated by Madhouse, huh? Might be worth a watch. So what's the translation for the title? "A certain sky pilot's memories"?

A certain sky pilot's memories is correct.

This novel was 10th in 2009's Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!. Among the powerhouse novels like Bungaku Shoujo, Toradora, Baka to Test, To Aru Index, Spice and Wolf, Seitokai no Ichizon, and Full Metal Panic, this 1 volume novel pretty much was a huge surprise to many to actually get on the top 10.

I think many came into the topic expecting Index but I hope people hang around for the actual movie when it comes out as the novel had a very good plot. I for one will be looking forward to the movie ending. I'm quite ecstatic about this.

I was already interested in it before and after reading your post, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Madhouse movies are almost always good and if it has a good story as well. This might be a winner. If only most Madhouse TV series were half as good as their movies (there are exceptions)

Eh I say there more than half as good and better than most studios here's what they've done in the last 6 years that aren't moe bait garbage and putting out quite a few worthwhile series: Kaiji, Akagi, Hajime no Ippo 2nd season, Kemonozume, Kaiba, Monster, NANA, One Outs, Paranoia Agent, Paradise Kiss, Rideback, Sōten Kōro, Shigurui , Jubei-Chan 2, Mōryō no Hako and Beck. They've done lot of series that doesn't cater to the moe loving crowd that most studios these days do.

Ah sorry. With half as good I meant the animation, not the content. Of that list in your post, only Monster, Yuasa works and Ride Back were visually impressive. Madhouse TV series lack consistency (again there are exceptions). Though when it comes to their movies, you're guarenteed awesomeness.

Don't forget to add Yojou-han Shinwa Taikei to that list. It's a brilliant MADHOUSE anime out right now that needs a lot more watchers.

Anyway, I've never heard of the novel, but considering I've liked the anime adaptations of all the other light novels on Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!, I'll check this one out.
