A seperate thread or sub-forum might be nice for the new people. I just wonder how many will come to see it.
One thing that should be done should be a listing of the many voice actors this show has. Some are very well know. Especially on the Gamilas side of things. I also know that at least five of the actors in this show were in the later series in the 1970s and 1980s. Usually minor role, but sometimes at least memorable.

We have no idea how thought. And that was from the nicovideo live stream of two cosplaying Yamato Girls watching the third episode of the show. The offical Yamato Girls though. The ones that go to the major events.
But. Starblazers 2199.

Oh for fucks sake people, could you stop feeding ANN and actually go and quote the actual source? Also some reading comprehension wouldn't hurt.

Well they have the rights to that name and it was the name most in the US would remember it under. It isn't like the Macross/Robotech divide in terms of rights holders. Space Battleship Yamato and Star Blazers have the same rights holders.

I don't see the big deal. Yamato became popular in America under the title of Starblazers, so it's not like there's a huge need to disdain the original title. I'm sure they're going to keep everything else the same.

I'm hoping it gets a good dub, but regardless I think I'll be purchasing this when it comes out in stores.

I'm not too keen on the retaining the name Starblazers. I watched it when I was a kid in the 80s and loved the series. But honestly unless you were around during that time you probably won't remember the name. Not to mention it sounds really tacky IMO. The rebranding was merely a localization move to market US children at the time. Now with access to the internet, information on the franchise and series is easily available. I beleive anime fans today are more familiar with the name Yamato than Starblazers.

But for marketing, you don't target just the anime fans. You market to the public and also try to get the now parents that saw it as kids and aren't anime fans. They will be "oh I remeber that" and buy it for their kuds.

True. But as we've already seen in this remake it isn't really targeted at kids like Starblazers was. Starblazers had to do a lot of editing to taylor to that market. The tone of Yamato 2199 is much more serious than the original and some of the terms and ideas used won't be easily understood by kids. Its likely targeted at least to early teens/middle schoolers and older.

Easily targeted to US teenagers.
That and one of the main Japanese demographics for this show is children 4-12. In fact the Japanese TV ratings suggest the markets watching this show are 4-12, and 20-49 years old. I have no idea what the teenagers are doing.
