Novel 'Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni' (In Another World With My Smartphone) is getting a TV anime adaptation.
Coming for Summer 2017.

Plot Summary/Premise

Director: Takeyuki Yanase

He's definitely no beginner to the anime industry, having staff roles in anime that go waaay back like Saber Marionette J and Master of Mosquiton to more recent works like Pan de Peace. BUT, he's a relative newbie in directing an entire series compared to his more widespread role in directing animation and individual episodes. The only show he has directed so far is Himegoto (that trap anime from 2014).

Series Composition, Script: Natsuko Takahashi

You'd know Natsuko Takahashi for her script work for Gakutsuou and The Prince of Tennis and five episodes of Casshern Sins, but she also did script work for six episodes of the abomination that is Divine Gate. But then again, she did decently in both series composition and script for Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari, so why not?

Character Design, Chief Animation Director: Toshihide Masudate, Masahiro Sekiguchi, Miyako Nishida

All three have their sizable contributions in tons of anime. Sekiguchi is very stacked. There's one thing that worries me: why three character designers? I'm aware that character designers can also act as chief animation directors, but you'd often see one character designer.

Studio: Production Reed

This is an interesting note. Reed was formerly known as Ashi Productions, and they primarily do key animation and in-between work. One series where they act as the main animation studio is BLEACH. I guess this is their chance to do something different as a main animation studio after all that bankai spam.

Looks as uninspiring as I imagined to be. The girls looks very sameface and the main character looks damn familiar in the most generic way possible. Everything about this PV so far reeks of dullness and obvious lack of originality in audiovisuals.

By having a premise revolving around a guy who can fight enemies using a smartphone (which is needed only because mobage is a currently extremely popular trend) and solving girls’ problems out of thin air, I’m not expecting anything good to come out of it at all. If this was released a decade ago I would like it very much and it even had potential to become a success at the time but alas it’s not happening today, considering how many commerical battle harem flops have been released as of late.

First episode is out now...

Pretty much what I had expected. OP song is catchy but visually, it felt underwhelming overall. It was pretty much an introductory episode although I do expect the other characters to be introduced later. The MC is really blend imo so far though, not impressed by his role in this show so far at all.

The first episode was what everyone said about this story, it was bland, boring and filled with the usual cliches. The below average animation didn't helped this to improve and the MC is boring as fuck.

This one deserves the 3 episodes rule.

OK, animation is OK but not great. Hoping it improves a bit though. I could REALLY do without the constant little momentary chibi gags. Either way, I rarely feel things to be rushed but even if I hadn't read the novels this is a crazy race so far. I seriously hope they slow down soon. Utterly insane speed. It's weird but I think it actually takes away from the rather peaceful atmosphere of the first few volumes; stuff is happening so fast that you don't get a chance to really enjoy and savor it, unlike the novels.

I know this is going to be a harem story and i usually tend to dislike and get disappointed at those but i kinda liked the idea of having a smarthphone where you can search information from our world and make an impact in a new fantasy land, so i'm going to give a chance to this title.
Sure, the animation is nothing special and the transition between scenes tells me they are probably going to rush this adaptation like hell, but i kinda liked what i saw so far. It seems a relax story to follow and seeing the MC already making a cultural impact with the new ice cream recipe was fun to watch..lol. It's rare seeing an isekai story where something like that actually happens. It seems to have a lot of generic elements and all, but if done half right it can be entertaining. I will keep following for now!

Konosuba was too stupid for me so I didn't even finish the first episode.

I was hoping for Sarah Emi Bridcutt to voice Lindsy for twin siblings shenanigans together with Maaya Uchida... guess I was hoping too much... xD

I kinda feel bad for Lindsy's VA (Fukuo Yui) since she really felt like got hammered down by the other VAs... even Touya's VA seems more used to voice acting despite it's his first major role in anime and fourth time doing voice acting in an anime.

Animation's not bad, not that good either. Either way, still looks good if watched at 60 fps. This actually made me want to read the novel again... xD

Whelp... all in all, I've found my anime to watch this season for the reason of casual watching. K&M was really rushed but Takahashi Rie did a good job voicing Ernesti. Fate/Apo felt an obligation to watch...

...or getting into a fight with someone at the adventurers guild one of the first times they visit there.

You have got to give this show credit, they are not beating around the bush. The main character actually has God on speed-dial.

Now i remember, though it is not exactly the same.
I really had fun with the anime Ixion Saga DT.
The main character, he actually uses his smartphone in an another world too.

Maybe people should compare these two after finish watching both of them.
