I was half expecting Whiplash to surprise me and pop out again because that final fight was done so quickly. He so deserved more screentime then he got in this movie imo.

I thought Iron Man 2 was a decent movie. Action was good (final fight aside) but I had some issues with some parts during the middle portion. Hammer for one was so annoyingly painful to listen to most of the time and as much as I like the emphasis on Tony Stark's heavy ego trip I felt after a certain point it just got redundant and began to make the middle feel dragged. I was also underwhelmed by the whole blood toxin subplot. I don't know...I just think they could've done more with it.

Just a tiny peeve: I'm watching the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix live at this very moment and, I must say, if Americans think Indy cars are anything like the F1 machines, they are so seriously mistaken. F1 cars don't even remotely sound so throaty — they're more like a pack of screaming banshees instead.

Other than tiny stuff like that, Iron Man 2 is a highly serviceable film that delivers all the right thrills and spills. Mickey Rourke is fabulous as Whiplash, and Robert Downey Jr is born to be Tony Stark. I am pleasantly surprised by Scarlet Johansson's turn as the Black Widow — she really lived up to her name "scarlet" in this role.

And Gwyneth Paltrow, well, she didn't really have to act much, being more of a flower vase for the show. But, heck, with a vase so ethereally beautiful, who cares?

The story is cliched and more than a bit contrived in various places, but that's something to be expected of a summer, comic-book-based, blockbuster.

Good fun. I can't really say if it's better or worse than the first movie. To me, they are both just as good.

It is a good Marvel movie =)
We all know not to have too high standards for Marvel made movies, but it is great to watch on a Sunday afternoon when you have nothing to do and it is warm outside.
I wonder if people enjoyed it differently without reading the comics, I read Invincible Iron Man and am now reading the older series as well. Picking up Noir and some other new ones in the process. I can understand how people think "Who is that Nick Fury?!" though when you see his ship you'll go "oooooooohhhhh" and realize that is is a very tough son if a cookie

This was a decent movie, a fun movie to watch on your spare time. Funny that Karuma said "sunday afternoon" when it was last sunday afternoon I went to watch this

That would be so lame. I wouldn't mind more Rourke, but not because of that.

I would say this movie on a scale of 1-10 would be an 8-8.5, but I still find the recasting of Roddy just obnoxious, and damn Hammer corp was just stupid and trite, it sounded like they were competing at a science fair. Here's hoping to a shield movie spinoff. Overall I wish whiplash died to a MvC2 style combo attack then just arm beam cannon combo fire.

The recast was obnoxious, but Terrence Howard was never a good fit.

Well, Cheadle fits the role better with regards to his relationship with Tony. He is also a better actor all together.

Hmm, you are right. I've watched both Formula 1 and American Stock Car racing and I definitely think they took the sounds of stock cars and applied it to Formula 1

If anyone who played the Burnout series but doesn't watch Formula 1 on tv, the Burnout racing games (starting from Revenge and up I believe) has a good example of just how screaming an F1 racer sounds

I heard this review before watching, and afterward I though the guy was entirely correct:
kind of plot spoilers in it though

That guy is a little too smart to be reviewing movies. But I am impressed that he didn't bash it to hell like other people probably would have.
