This manga by Tanemura Arina of Full moon wo sagashite and Kamikaze kaitou Jeanne fame.

Manga is currently licensed by Viz.

I like the char design, its cute and very shoujo and it got traps, shoujo-ai(yuri or w/e, since it has girl x girl kisses), shounen-ai(yaoi or w/e,yes it has boy x boy kisses),

only sad thing is its released monthly

The begining confused me a bit, once things were cleared up, the story starts to pick-up.

I love TA's character designs...her manga are always soooo pretty.

to say i was not excited is an understatement but believe it or not, i did not buy it yet!
i must have had too many skittles because its a mystery to me too.

anyway is anyone reading this? I hear its still running in ribon JP?

the story looks a little mean though. i'm not really wanting to read another peach girl title in my life.

Yes I am reading it. It's still running in a monthly manga and its up to chapter 34, I think because the last chapter I read was chapter 32(saving around 5 mo. so I could read 32-37 in one go, reading 1 chapter per month kills the mood).

Spoiler for has some manga spoilers, read at your own risk, it's mainly what the plot is all about:

It's quite a unique shoujo manga actually, the main story would be a girl falling in love with a boy by reading a children story he wrote.(Note: the girl was 5 years old and the guy who wrote was also 5 years old, I'm not sure the exact age, but, definitely they were still a loli and a shouta.) The story starts with the guy being a PLATINUM at his school (extremely high class position, school president), of course they met by chance. of course this story has a twist in it that I wont spoil you about.

A girl who fell in love with his best friend(the main girl char, yes Yuri.)

A boy who is in love with a trap and... the Platinum.

A trap who is also in love with the boy and the main girl.

note: trap = boy, I call him a trap because he does cross-dress and I really thought he was a girl at first.

Anyway it's a hotblood story about a love triangle or polygon, jealousy, friendship, dark past, incest, yuri, yaoi. The only missing from this show is mecha.

I have to say my favorite character is Ushio.

How she saved her first kiss for Haine(main girl char), even though she has more than 10 boyfriends and with lots of hints that she slept with every one of them, minus the kiss.

How Haine sacrificed everything, including her love life just for her best friend was really touching and sweet.

How Ushio seduced the Platinum and get Haine's tie away from him and wearing it herself and Haine having seen everything, even defending Ushio by saying that "Ushio would never do such things without any reason" is really sweet and shows how important Ushio's friendship meant to her and how close their relationship is.

sidenote: The tie I'm talking about is the tie in their uniform. Exchanging ties between two person means that both of them are a couple, Haine had exchanged tie with the Platinum. Thus, the significance why Ushio wanted Haine's tie.

The only downside of this manga is, sometimes I could never identify who's who... Thus I keep reading the chapter again and again. Btw, there is a scanlation of this manga, up to the latest chapter, somewhere in the net, since this manga is licensed I cannot post links here.

Really, Shinshi Doumei Cross is a really excellent manga, almost all the characters has a dark or problematic past.

Character Development is really well done, an A++ manga.

Actually Platinum is the name given to the girlfriend of the Houtei or the student council president.. The student council president is the most prestigous position in the school and is basically a gold class.. The platinum position after a Houtei fell in love with a copper and hence making a position higher then a silver but lower then a gold, "Platinum".. To confirm Platinum is the name of the Houtei's girlfriend or lover.

As for the manga itself, it's surprisingly good, the characters are nice and there are lots of twists and turns.

i can't believe that he would sell his own kid and then later he wants her back? wth, you lost her when you sold her for money, so i doubt that she will come back. but i wonder about her mother losing her memory, could it be the trauma of losing haine or is it something else?

The background story of the series is one of power and recognition. So at one level, you have the parents' generation doing what they thought was the best for their families. Then, when it came to the kids, many problems had to be taken care of.

I have all 9 volumes (so far) and I'm reading it all over again. I'm currently on Volume 4 but everytime I read each volume again, I'm learning something new.
