Sine it's a new thread, I'd like to mention something about episode 3.
1. The switched the Latin and the Japanese for this episode. It used to be Japanese with Latin in the background, now it's the reverse. Made it a bitch to translate spells. 2. The art is very different, and very good, during the battle in the middle of the episode. BTW, that battle was freaking awesome. |

Aside from that, it followed the manga, well, perfectly. At least what I remember. Rakan's full body beam was epic. And the fight with Kagewhateverhisnameis was crazy cool. Shame about the censoring. And it was pretty short considering how long between OADs.

I was hooked on this OVA from episode 1 and was only thinking to myself in terms of animated movement about what this studio is capable of if given enough time and money. Episode 3 once again reiterates what this studio can do. Shaft already has all the other aesthetic quality of overall animation except the movements. The studio has always been notorious when it comes to animated movements. So this OVA series just shows how good they can be in animated movements as well when they want to be.
My jaw pretty much fell on the floor couple of times as I drank the super fluid movements in couple of those action scenes. The character design, and the background art is stellar as usual, so the mix of gorgeous animated movements only enhance the quality of this OVA. This show is as shounen as it gets considering Shaft is working on it and I loved it! Episode gets a 9 from me.

I just don't see anything that takes this below a "10" for me. It's arch-loyal to the spirit and substance of the manga, but with a little Shaft essence thrown into the mix. The animation is glorious. We finally get to see Rakan in all his GAR, goofus glory. Really - for a Negima fan, what more could you ask for?
Specifically, that felt like it lasted about 5 minutes and then the closing credits were up. It's torture waiting months between releases, even if I do know what happens next. This is the Negima that we should have had from the beginning - sharp, funny, kinky, with great supporting cast members like Kotarou and Rakan sharing the stage. This is what Shaft can do when they don't get too full of their own cleverness - with a strong and well-known source material like Akematsu's at play, it acts as a natural levee against a flood of Shaft self-indulgence.

They had no choice at all, like I've said before. Yeah, the art is getting better. And I can guarantee that Chisame/Rakan fanservice will be animated. The other fanservice being showed will be from Konoka/Setsuna.

Love the episode.
And Raken is just... AWESOME, LOL... And yea... mangas have censoring cause some of them are aimed toward kids and teens. (they don't want to put tooo much detail, they wants to make it "ero" and make people "imagine" stuff.... which is what attracts more people to the manga/ anime) Also... I just noticed now that the "manga" version only came as OVAs. I wonder why they didn't just decide to anime the whole "manga" series instead of the current arc... ( mostly cause I wanted to watch some of the previous arcs that was in the manga ;p ) Tho... if they had done that... the art detail would be lowered as they don't have as much time to develop the art in a weekly release like they have with OVAs. |

Only watched the first few minutes, though already reading the manga gives me a good idea of how this'll turn out.
A little bit dissapointed that they didn't make older Negi (aka 'Nagi') sound older when he's in that form :/ Still, the voice are nice as always to hear |

animation was bit choppy on some parts of the kagetora fight other then that it was good all around.
animated Negi Spring Fever = epic, good voice for rakan though not the voice I pictured him with.
