great shows which came out in 2010 that not either moe/harem nor shonen actiony:
Durarara!, Tatami galaxy, Shiki, Kuragehime, Hourou Musuko... I can go on. Even when last year is not a great one in terms of series that came out, we still got a fair amount of gems. The industry is not as bleak as you would think Quote:
As much as I love the manga and would love to see an adaptation, i think it's impossible due to the content. Then again, I would so love a studio to give it a try, even if it's a 6 OVA series.

If it's not asking too much, by any chance, would anyone here still like to talk about the show?
Not what genre it is or how crap anime has become or what you think of SHAFT but, you know, the show itself? What happened this week, what we think may happen next week, that sort of thing? Just curious...

The recent episode itself was stronger than last one, as even though there wasn't really much of development in plot itself (as usual), there were much well written dialogs by Meme, which made me smile through the entire episode. Erio and Meme is just gorgeous. I don't think there will be any significant development in plot through this series. Erio and Makoto is probably the only characters who can develop and change in this series. However, that's what character driven show is about; interaction between eccentric people in enjoyable and interesting way.

She hasn't appeared so far. What makes you think she would be responsible for Erio's disappearance? Quote:
That massive trolling was a real shame , which made me eventually drop the series when the trolling got too bad towards the end, with tha alien crap and such I can only say that I enjoy Denpa Onna a huge deal more than Madoka.

Umm, I say definitely not a case. Shaft and Urobuchi's trolling 'FAILED' already when Urobuchi's name was even mentioned. In Japan, when 3rd episode was happened, there were more people who was going 'expected from Urobuchi wwwwwww' then 'OMG WE ALL TROLLED'. If they were really trolling, they should've really made Hidamari with Magic then thriller animation.

It's just my suspicion they never work out all too well and just the fact she is wearing an astronauts suit brought it up. Besides they will eventually (or probably will not?) state what happened to Erio while she disappeared, and suspecting the character that hasn't appeared yet in the anime is always how I go about things.

I wonder when they'll introduce her - but I doubt she's got anything to do with Erio's kidnapping (or whatever it was). I'd say that spacesuit is just cosplay, just the other girl (Maekawa) who also frequently does cosplay.

I think popular literature of all kinds, written and visual, drama and anime, is rooted in wish fulfillment, so we're never going to get away from that. It's more a matter of whose wishes are being fulfilled. Maybe it has to do with who the producers are, and maybe with who makes up the bulk of the current anime audience, and maybe with the expense of making grander shows (e.g., Sunrise space opera) that can succeed. Shiki was not that horrifying, and did not have the kind of heroine you might prefer, but I thought it was good. And there's a new Blood series show coming this summer. As for going back to reading books, I'm doing some of that myself. There is a wider range of good stories there. But I still like this show and Steins;Gate, among others this season. (It's hard to say whether it's the guy or one of the girls there that has the harem, lol.) I do think Denpa is one show whose protagonist is not a "loser-wimp." Not a traditional active "hero," either, though. Anyway, I'm looking forward to another episode of Denpa Onna tomorrow. How will Erio change? Will grandma be "cattle-mutilated?" Will space-suit girl show up? Is it really Maekawa-san's father who is unemployed and setting off bottle-rockets? Why was Meme depressed?

Eh, this is reminding of the whole Hanasaku debate. It's funny (and interesting) how differently people can interpret -or misinterpret- a first episode. Anyway, to get back on topic. I predict The astronaut girl will just be some sort of space otaku, and will become good friends with Erio ( first friend, probably) since they share similar interests. She may even be the granddaughter of the old lady from last episode.

Decided to catch up with this. It's one I was interested in giving a look at since the start of the season but I ended up not doing so. Can't really say why.
Anyway, to begin I have to say this is probably the most "normal" series from Shaft I've ever watched, though it's still easy to see their own style perks. Like weird "camera" positions, focus on things that don't need to be focused on, and incredibly awkward zoom-ins/close-ups on the characters. As for the content itself, there's not a whole lot to it. Just about a young man named Makoto and his efforts at assisting his cousin to become a person who can contribute to society again after being a shut-in for so long. But while there's really no plot presented, there IS a mystery, and that's Erio's case of amnesia. I can honestly say that I'm curious about that and hope the details will be revealed by the time this is over. When it comes to the humour of the show, it's not really laugh-out-loud funny, but some jokes do manage to get me to smile or stifle a "HA!" every now and then. Good enough for me.~ So yeah, I'm gonna follow this one now. I don't know what part of me wanted to stall doing so, but I'm glad I watched it now anyway.~
