Small historical note for those not aware - South Sakhalin was ruled by Imperial Japan from 1905-1945; when imperial Russia lost the Russo-Japanese war they had to give it to Japan.
It was renamed Karafuto Prefecture, and many of the places were given new Japanese names (ie. Otomari, Toyohara, etc). When Japan lost WW2 in 1945, communist Russia seized the chance to reclaim lost territory and forcibly retook Sakhalin from Japan. By 1949 the Japanese population had been repatriated back to Japan, and most Japanese monuments on Sakhalin demolished. |

That said, both Sirius and Kuromukuro seem to have a rather heavy emphasis on growing up and moving forward based on one's personal resolve (Especially Kuromukuro, which was SOL/coming of age disguised as scifi) - seems to be a common theme in PA Works original series. It's quite clear with Yuliy - from wanting to kill all the vampires, to wanting to make a world of cooperative peace with help from the Ark, even if it means going on the run from the major world powers and potentially helping his previous sworn enemies (even if it was largely Yevgraf's doing). |

Amazing anime!
Too bad bro died I'm so happy Yuliy saved 1 loli vampire and even travelled with her in the end They splitted up in the end despite heading towards the same destination that is vampire HQ Probably coz the loli wants to convince the vampires first or to distract the pursuers But anyway, Ryouko End is impossible now coz The World is after Yuliy So I consider this loli vampire win Added to that thread

Okay series. It started to get fairly predictable once the plot was established so it kinda lost its original allure halfway through.
Also, that loli vampire did say she'd be waiting but didn't it then imply that she died by "ashification"?

Uh... anyway.
I binged the whole series in one sitting. It had a lot of elements that I feel could've been very interesting, but in the end, it was just rushed and somewhat bland. The fight scenes were very well done and lovely to watch in motion, and the only episode that suffered from a significant dip in production value was 11. I also loved a lot of the character designs. But the execution of the story was just so, so weak -- the ending being the least satisfying part of it. And why even have a cast that size if you aren't going to develop the vast majority of it? Did PAW just misjudge how much budget and/or episodes they were going to have for this thing? It almost made me wonder why they bothered to even tell the tale at all, to be honest. I don't think I've been this disappointed in a series that had genuine potential since Rokka no Yuusha. I rated it a 6/10, mostly for animation and putting a unique spin on werewolves. That's it.
