There's a huge drawback of this manga (even when we do not count all the gore...)
It's how side characters looks so much similar to each other. ... and the two moe points we have is the ruthless body guard and the human part collector

I don't know if Adorea is moe, I can't even see her expression...
If there's one beef I have with Hox taking over is the... typesetting. Did they use Impact as a font? That makes it a bit harder to read and doesn't look really good for scans. Not a huge deal though, I still appreciate the speedy releases. |

Interesting chapter, for those who don't remember - Kanade is the "insect girl" from the Chrysalis chapter. Odd that she doesn't look very human anymore though.
Still, gross. Not the worst thing I've read in Franken Fran however, it's rather tame in comparison to older chapters.

Putting a whole new shine on dead baby comedy...
There's a reason the foetus gets developed within the body of the mother, whether in a womb or in a pouch. And I didn't realize the insect girl part, I guess you can say the treatment ultimately failed? The original goal was to have at least a human appearance. |

The doctor who markets the method could really have avoided all this if she included a surrogate care package. All that's required was a clean, secure environment.

lol. I guess, even if she ate him, she still got pregnant anyway?
Anyway, I spoiled myself on you guys' reaction posts first so I ended up knowing there would be a lot of bugs involved. With that in mind, the very first shot where the wasp landed on the chrysalis had me going "Oh, fucking hell" at the thought of what was coming up. It wasn't actually as bad as I thought it'd be, though. I somewhat found the cockroaches later to be more disgusting than the wasps themselves. A part of me, throughout the chapter, kept thinking 'these are people's babies here', and I was somewhat horrified at all the pointless deaths. On the other hand, they were only fetii, and by the end of the episode, with the cheap and careless way the 'parents' were handling them, I no longer felt these were lives being destroyed. It was somewhat interesting. I'd say that this chapter was actually pretty good as a moral story, asserting that, beyond the protective aspects of the womb, the pain and effort of going through childbirth play an important role in reminding us just how precious that life is. Good chapter. |
