If you want a series to compare this to, I think Bamboo Blade is a good example? It's a story about a school club trying to make it to nationals and the struggles therein.

Pretty standard, but I hear it's well-executed besides.

People (including myself) were misinformed; the author won a romance award for a -different- novel. I don't think he's going to appear much if at all.

As it is, it generated complaints from brass instrument players who of course, was attracted to this new show with the expectation of relatively accurate portrayal of musicians.

I suspect that the artist who drew that poster had no ideal what he had done. It was just meant to be a moe picture, he probably didn't understand the responsibility of doing a piece of KyoAni official art.

Yeah, I can actually believe the people being a bit upset about that. It worked visually for the image and the posing, but you'd definitely never rest a tuba or brass instrument on the concrete floor like that. I probably wouldn't have made a big deal on that since it was just for the picture and probably doesn't reflect what they'd do with the instruments in the show itself.

On the positive side have to respect how hyped some musicians are for the show that they'd get upset over it. Probably if I played the tuba that would have been my first thought on the art .

"Don't stand the instrument on the floor on its bell. All too often instruments left in this position are knocked over and dented."

Crying characters don't equal drama.

It's not always that far off though. Crying is a pretty extreme response to a situation either positive or negative. Probably not crying because they stubbed their toe or something.

I honestly don't know if it's the hair but there's something... old school (?) about the character design.

Must really be the hair. Looks so... 90s?

Their noses aren't just dots like you see more and more these days.

It's something I dislike about modern designs, give girls their noses back!Even a small triangle thingy will do, just no dots please!

Looks like this will start being light and comedy like K-On, but also it seems like it has a direction unlike K-On and will get serious later. Hopefully it doesn't become a clone, i have mixed views now.
