Well at least they are trying to prove the theory that it could work.

Even if practical application would be centuries away, the notion that it is possible is very inspirational.

The drive system will probably require some sort of exotic materials. But at least with the refined theory, the power requirements are not impossible. Perhaps impracticle, but not impossible.

What a fascinating and possibly game-changing theory. I hope they find something that is usable.

Even only managing to make it to light speed (or even almost to light speed) would be very useful for our species.

While light speed still means years to even the closest star systems, it means that if it can be used safely in the Solar System, the other planets are just minutes to maybe an hour away. Commerce happens when you can get to Mars and back within an hour.

The proposed 10 times light speed would make traveling to other stars viable as the closest star with seemingly viable life sustaining planets would be just a little over two years travel away.

Scientists Report First Success in Cloning Human Stem Cells:

"It’s been 17 years since Dolly the sheep was cloned from a mammary cell. And
now scientists applied the same technique to make the first embryonic stem cell
lines from human skin cells."

Kepler Telescope out of comission

hopefully they can get it fixed somehow or find a workaround, Kepler's been one of the more successful mission lately.

Need to get that Warp Drive up so we can investigate what the Kepler has found.

It's probably unlikely, now than the space shuttles are in museum.

the shuttle is irrelevant in this case, as the Kepler telescope is in orbit around the Sun - the shuttle isn't capable of leaving LEO.

Next thing human cloning will be on the work. Oh wait, that's already in the works.

Could a Drug Prevent Brain Aging?:

"Sharply reducing calorie intake, by as much as 40 percent, could slow aging in cells
and may even prolong life span, studies have suggested. Now, researchers say
they have found a way to mimic the beneficial effects of calorie restriction on the
brain with a drug."

"In the new study, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
focused on how calorie restriction affects brain cells. They showed that restricting
the calorie intake of laboratory mice by 30 percent boosted levels of an enzyme in
the brain, and delayed the loss of nerve cells that can accompany decline in brain
function.

The calorie-deprived mice also did better on memory tests, compared with their
well-fed counterparts.

Then, the researchers mimicked calorie restriction — they fed the mice a regular
diet, but also gave them the enzyme-blocking drug. These mice had better
functioning brain cells, and did better on cognitive tests, just as the mice that
were fed a calorie-restricted diet."

COLD FUSION is BACK with 'anomalous heat' claim:

"Italian entrepreneur Andrea Rossi has surfaced again to restate his claim that
his E-Cat low energy nuclear reaction kit puts out more energy than goes in. And
so it is that the “cold fusion” debate will be re-ignited – this time with new voices
in Rossi's corner.

Giuseppe Levi and Evelyn Foschi (Bologna University, Italy); Torbjörn Hartman, Bo
Höistad, Roland Pettersson and Lars Tegnér, all of Uppsala University in Sweden,
and Hanno Essén of the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, are claiming
that the heat produced in the latest tests of Rossi's E-Cat rig is “one order of
magnitude greater than conventional energy sources”.

Doctors save Ohio boy by 'printing' an airway tube:

"In a medical first, doctors used plastic particles and a 3-D laser printer to create
an airway splint to save the life of a baby boy who used to stop breathing nearly
every day.

It's the latest advance from the booming field of regenerative medicine, making
body parts in the lab."
