The manga Boku Dake ga Inai Machi is getting an TV anime adaptation. Confirmed from the Noitamina network and it will air in Winter 2016. The studio will be A-1 Pictures and to be directed by Tomohiko Ito.

Plot Summary:

Struggling manga author Satoru Fujinuma is beset by his fear to express himself. However, he has a supernatural ability of being forced to prevent deaths and catastrophes by being sent back in time before the incident occurred, repeating time until the accident is prevented. One day, he gets involved in an accident that has him framed as a murderer. Desperate to save the victim, he sends himself back in time only to find himself as a grade-schooler one month before fellow classmate Kayo Hinadzuki went missing. Satoru now embarks on a new quest: to save Kayo and solve the mystery behind her disappearance.

Well....

There's some narrative in the first half and it seems normal at first glance until there's some cryptic foreshadowing. I like the quiet and atmospheric style of the episode especially with the hospital scenes and later. Also found the reflection of Satoru's recent life to be interesting. The elements introduced in the episode establishes his personality along with his family.



Definitely interesting episode. There's a lot of potential imo although I'm somewhat worried because the manga is still ongoing. Still good stuff, looking forward to more for sure. Second half was quite thrilling.

that was a pretty good and intriguing episode. I like the way they explained his "revival" power and i'm already digging the music. However, it's a bit sad because they're going to rush things in the anime since it's confirmed to be 12 episode by the BD-BOX on amazon JP. They've already animated a lot of chapter in this episode. Looking forward to the next.

This is great! I love these kind of stories with some mistery mixed on it, really good start.

The first half was like an introduction but then suddenly everything went in the most crazy way, definelly going to watch this until the end.

Definitely a good start. It was a bit hard to get that invested in the mother's death mostly since you knew they were going to have this time travel mechanic. Even without the summary, his revival ability seemed like on that would probably kick into action. The normal amount is usually 5 minutes max but, this exceptions are always possible.

It definitely works though. His ability basically lets him go back and stop a tragedy from happening. In order to prevent the tragedy of his mother the ability had a few options. Send him back before he left for work, send him back to the point where he could get back home in time to stop the crime, or go back and stop the original crime that launched this whole situation off. It clearly went with the last one .

I was a bit surprised they'd put much focus on Airi in this episode. After all we are being thrown back in time to a point where she probably can't be involved in the story...and actually probably isn't born yet .

Still, that was some interesting stuff. Certainly the Yukki guy is the type that probably would be the prime suspect. A strange guy, bit of a nervous person who is hanging around kids? Not crazy that after the kidnappings and murders that someone would consider him a child molester that crossed the next line into murder. Sadly....not the case. The guy got away with it and was continuing his activities. Kind of a bold move on his part. Killing Satoru's mother and then trying to get him set up with the murders. I guess his previous success with someone taking the heat for his crime made him feel confident enough to try that.

Should be an interesting setup.

... finding myself in elementary with no memory of where my classroom or locker are, what my phone number is or what our homework was last night, and then being forced to sit through a lecture on the multiplication table.

It's absolutely terrifying.
