I wonder if The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi is indeed a "re-air (but named renewed)" or something else. Apparently, instead of airing episode 00 (Asahina Mikuru no Bouken), they aired episode 01 (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi I). Apparently, it is DVD version, so episode 01 aired first. Also, it'll be 28 episodes, not 14, according to this

well its kadakowa that was trolling haruhi fans so haruhi 2 could have been done after they had finished clannad but considering they had munto also in the pipeline with clannad it doesn't seem suprising for haruhi 2 and k-on to be simulcasting.

K-On is reportedly a 13 episode show...and the meat of the rumored "confirmed" 28 show Haruhi doesn't start until near the end of K-On's run (unless they split it first and second seasons completely, than all the new material will be two weeks after K-On ends).
In theory, there would be a total of four new episodes in the next 14 weeks, then a maybe two more new episode and four more older episodes, and then ending with the remaining eight or so new episodes.

One thing keeps bugging me - it seems the majority of KyoAni's anime series were produced in the 2000s, but the studio was founded in the 1980s, so what had they been doing during these intervening years???

A lot of finish animation and being parts of cooperative efforts in the 80s and 90s. It isn't a long list, but it is more than what you (or I) might think.

Wow I didn't realised they were involved in the Inuyasha franchase as well. Thanks for link Ithekro.
From the looks of it, it seems that before 2000 they'd simply been gathering enough experience and confidence in the anime production arena before taking on whole projects all by themselves, which makes sense I suppose. Good for KyoAni! |

So is K-On meeting expectations of KyoAni?
It the Trolling of Haruhi ending within the week? Will there be another Key Adaptation produced by KyoAni? Will there be another Full Metal Panic Series? Can faith manage?

The only reason I really want a new FMP season is so that we can get the story and those new mechs into SRW.
Because of the Lambda Drive, Arbalest was one of the higest damage dealers in the games. But we still need FMP to appear in a PS2 SRW so that we can hear voices and see actual Kyoani Lambda effects enhanced by Banpresto. Also if Tessa gets more screen time, we may finally have Danaan as a permanent unit or more appearances instead of an occasional unit. Though this may mean an SRW we lots of water, which sounds quite impossible.

Which hopefully means people can stop talking about "trolling" because honest to god it was getting kind of silly if not stupid. I mean I'm anything but a fan of Kadokawa's marketing policies which have always been messed up, but to dwell on it just seemed so counterproductive from an anime fanbase standpoint to me. Almost moreso then the marketing policies themselves.

What trolling? Guess I've been living under a rock, then.
IMO, Haruhi was always going to get a 2nd season, along with the third. It has gotten too big not to be able to see its story all the way to the end.

I don't even need faith. It makes no sense not to continue with the story. When even I, a casual watcher, read up on it at TVTropes to try and get a better hold of the story, I know that KyoAni knows that it has a hit on its hands. The thing is how not to waste it.

Yeah I'm surprised people ever thought they'd let their biggest cash maker go to waste.
Plus, it's good marketing to keep the tension and expectations up so people don't forget about it, all this talk of trolling is funny. Just because you've had to wait for 3 years... I'm still waiting for Banner of the Stars IV here. |
