It is another thing overused but in cases like these I don't see how a weaker villain would otherwise have protected herself, it isn't like they are all honorable and go without fighting underhandedly. It's something you have to accept that blackmailing is a common thing (and also the person who it is being done to, I'd say that Kou would be more likely to stay still than Kuu).

Well episode 4 continued the running tradition of this show to have fun interactions and some plot/character development for the first 2/3rds then throwing random poorly done Rock/Paper/Scissor elemental fights in at the end...

Just a shame they can't either lay off the fights for an episode or at the least integrate them into the flow of the show instead of being tacked on at the tail end...meh. Still <3 Kou dragon scales and all.

Kuu made a request to Noboru to have Inarizushi for dinner..well Kuu's reason for having inarizushi is kinda confusing...issit fox and inarizushi has somekind of relation?




Kou wanted Noboru to let her help him too..and she really serious about it too





And so..Noboru gave Kou the job to buy things for dinner,although the job looks hard on her too...well at least she won't blow any cooking material this time




Kuu in new outfit...meeting Kou in the supermarket and begging Kou to give her some money to buy sake.




The story of Miyako and Kuu's first meet.Seems like Kuu and Takagami (Noboru and Tooru's father) were having the same kind of first meet

The reason of why Kuu performs mitamaokuri..




Miyako shows Tooru the mark behind her neck.She said that Tooru trait follows her trait while Noboru follow his father's trait.




Today's episode seems abit serious this time unlike the previous episodes that features more comedy scenes than serious plot.Today's story is about Kuu trying to bring back Miyako's soul for the sake of Tooru,using the forbidden technique Mitamaokuri (which Ebisu explained as the technique that calls the dead's soul by opening the door of the other world [?]),and because of that Ebisu take his action as the god of the area to stop Kuu from continuing by punishing her.Even with Kuu's various techniques,she still cannot match Ebisu in terms of power and strength (well Ebisu is a god anyway ).

However seeing Kuu that seems to be serious about performing mitamaokuri even though it could cost her life,Ebisu instead change the punishment to "sacrifice a part of Kuu's body" as a replacement for it.And the part of Kuu's body that Ebisu wanted so much (well he explain the reason of it to the hashihime on the last scene) is Kuu's long hair

I hope i got the whole translation right...coz i have to search alot for this episode,and watch it few times to get the meaning right >"< lol..anyway the scene when Miyako's soul appeared is kinda wanna make me cry.Tooru finally manage to see her mom (although Noboru can't see Miyako's soul...i think) and it was sad that she can't stay longer and talk with Tooru.

It was a nice episode indeed,with Kuu risking her life for the sake of Tooru..this episode really heighten my respect on Kuu more and more,although its kinda sad to see her hair becomes short ;_;

Definitely is overused. And throwing in changes to these overused plot devices is one of the things that separates poor and average animes from great ones.

I know its not anime, but have you seen the movie Serenity? There is a scene where the good guy is confronting the bad guy, and the bad guy says, I just want to talk, I'm not threatening you, I'm not armed...

Whereupon the good guy says "Good" Pulls out his gun and shoots the bad guy. No endless dialog, no rambling about the evil plan etc. Just bam.

Of course the bad guy then jumps on the good guy and says "I am of course wearing full body armor, I'm not a moron." And the fight begins.

The point though is, that these kind of things can easily be done differently to give them a unique and different feel. And shows that manage to do this are quite simply better.

Why the heck do they have to do that........seriously. I have this many times where the they have to butcher a female character's hair. Sometimes it makes the character look better (Aika from Aria), but worst most of the time (Lina lee, Asuka from cyber formula, and Talho).


O well, I guess it's not that bad could have been worse, but Kuu-chan grows her hair long back soon >_>

*nod* Good episode. The first half was a bit boring-decent, but the last half was good. The only problem I had with the end was the sudden comedic moment where Ebisu's pets ate the food, because it interrupted the mood.

The main thing that impressed me about the latter half is that the whole "Miyako visits as a spirit" thing didn't bring about super heavy drama like many anime would typically do. I guess Miyako's bubbly personality contributed to it. But either way, the face the mood didn't get gloomy or depressing all of a sudden was a good thing.

Ebisu came back and played the "bad guy" role pretty well this time. He also managed to get himself some of Kugen's precious hair. I'm surprised to see him be treated so rudely by the brothers. He also proves to be very strong (of course) because he's the god of the town they are in.
His dogs... not so much.

-Seems Tooru has a mark, just like her mother.

-Kugen should try and not spit out food when she talks next time...

-Hmm, so a dragon really is living inside Kou. According to Ebisu, anyways. So what happened for the dragon to get inside her in the first place?

Molenir ~ I agree that they could have used a more original idea than having a hostage, but then again, this series isn't trying hard to become special nor do I see that it needs to. Basically speaking, I am fine with it as it is now

Good episode imo.

The new haircut gives Kuu yet another new look (and as if the eyecatching white dress and straw hat wasn't enough ^^). Looking at her now in the preview she reminds me of Arcueid

The story continues to be interesting though. The flashback provided a good foundation from which Kuu acted on. It's just better to see her have a deeper reason for doing the ritual.

This is why I like Kuu so much, she is soo thoughtful ^^

The scene was quite touching in the end but it ever got depression. A good difference from the norm. This has to be thanks to Miyako's happy personality, shame that the renunion was so short. But at least Tooru has met her mother now (lol at Noboru though...useless that he can't see his own mother XD).

Ebisu is a strong yaro I must say. And does knowing Kuu's name allow her to be controlled? (lol geass).

But he isn't a bad guy...I think

Gotta love the scene where Tooru started feeding his dogs XD

Still not really my thing, but this was a good episode. How can I not like an episode with a hashihime in it, lol? (Hashihime, besides being the name of my blog, refers to a "bridge princess," the spirit guardian of a bridge.) The spells were interesting. I was moved by Miyako's appearance to her son. And Yukana and Hayami Saori continue to ensorcel me.

I like the name "Miyako," which means "capital," referring to Kyoto, normally. I liked it for the young spirit medium in Ghost Hound, too.

As for inarizushi, margafred, "Inari" is the Shinto fox-god, who is supposed to like inarizushi, according to Wikipedia.

I was planning on following this prior to the season starting (mostly for female Kuu), but its been a few weeks, and so far, the only things that I've really heard said about it are "decent", "meh", "crap", and "almost no fanservice". It doesn't seem like anyone is really, REALLY enjoying it.

Well, ANN's critics liked it, IIRC, but those are ANN's critics. Their words have never really held much weight with me.

...And now that Kuu has short hair, that's a little less incentive to start watching. (not that she doesn't look hot with shorter hair, but its still a downgrade)

Well, I've grown to not trust other people's opinion on series as they can be misleading. Even the general comments like "this is good" or "this is bad" may not necessarily count for you as you may have different tastes. Like for me, this series isn't trying to be anything special but I really enjoy watching it. It is just better to try it out for yourself before making a decision (especially when you've shown some interest in it in the first place).

Until now I though she was a quite boring character, but after this episode I take everything back I ever thought/said/saw bad about Kou. Here water techniques simply amazed me this episode Best moment when the earth was shaking due to her powering up.

Yes, if this continues I am walking the path of a Kou fanboy.

Indeed, she is so much more likable when you consider how powerful she or who she is and then you relate her back to the same person who pwns kitchen ware on a daily basis and the random "who's down there in the drawer" moment. you just can't help but to lol at how random it is. But Kuu is still Number 1!!!
