Mihoshi/Kirara is in the male division, and use (mostly) normal Gerbera Tetra.

So yeah, I think it's about building philosophy. Imagine a super camp boy wanted to enter it with uberbling fabulous suit.

I heard about some licensing issues causing newer series's MS (00, AGE, Unicorn) can't be used in Build Fighter. Why is that?

Because licensing issues

I think First season 00 is safe, but can't be certain.

I remember reading that it was because different Gundam shows aired on different networks, and hence that's the licensing issue.

I mean, I doubt anything from Age would show up regardless, but because of Age and 00 season 2 airing on... MBS I believe? They can't be used on a Gundam show that airs on another network.

I don't think this extends to Unicorn, since the recent episode even had the Kshatriya show up though just as a Gunpla.

Someone explained this in detail in one of the episode discussions I believe, you might want to check those out or just take our word for it

Direct to video OVAs and films should be fine. They didn't air on any tv network by default so there's no issue there.

Come to think of it Trailblazer should be exempt too since its a film.

Those shows are too new and my guess is it was to protect MBS and prevent Sunrise from taking one of those shows and producing a sequel with a rival company (which TV Tokyo, the broadcast for Gundam BF, is) within a specified period of time.

Unicorn and Gunpla Builders weren't produced by MBS so that's why they can be on this show even though they came out after Gundam 00.
