Here's a bit of the summary/synopsis from MAL

Quote:
Kotarou Azumi and Akane Mizuno became third year students at junior high school and are classmates for the first time. These two, along with fellow classmates, Chinatsu Nishio and Takumi Hira, relate to their peers through mutual understandings and feelings. As their final year at junior high school progresses, the group overcome their challenges to mature and become aware of changes in themselves.

Episode 1:

Hmm, I thought this first episode was kinda interesting. OP song has an unique vibe to it while the show itself has an atmospheric feel.

Character designs has some distinguishable outlines.

The episode itself seems pretty simple with the premise. We got the introduction of the main characters. Music is nice, really liked the light instrumental OST used in this. Akane is a pretty typical female character you'll find in these type of shows although she also has a love for running. Kotarou is the book guy as he enjoys reading.

Really curious to learn more about these characters as more episodes are aired. For now, I think the show has potential, will definitely be watching more of it.

Episode 1 is pretty much introducing in a very simple way the main characters, the animation and designs are okay but not my taste to be honest. The soundtrack is really good.

Ooh, this is my favourite premier so far. It looks really pretty and has a nice soundtrack. I can see the teen awkwardness get a bit much for some people, but I connect so much to it. If I have one complaint, it's that sometimes the character-animation doesn't integrate well with the backgrounds, but it's a really minor quibble.

I gave this a shot because I thought it might be interesting, but... eh. I know the show is trying to make me overflow with bittersweet nostalgia, but I don't have all that much of it to give to kids whose teen experiences rarely ever seem to align with mine in any significant manner.

I mean... the school stuff and two leads awkwardly crushing on each other made me bored out of my mind. Then came the restaurant scene and it was "oh yes, meeting a classmate you're kind of interested in outside safe territory, so awkward" and "your family decides to embarrass you in front of a classmate, I know this one all too well!" Also our Serious Reader main character checking out the girlie mag and then pretending he's above that, that was cute and relatable. So I got my hopes up for a little while, and then it was back to school stuff and awkwardly orbiting around one another while making barely verbal noises. I suppose that is also nostalgic and interesting for many people, but... well, it just made me bored.

I feel you there. It was an especially stark contrast for me as I had just watched Renai Boukun, which is like... both on a sugar binge and on drugs . This one, I can appreciate the craft and the artistry - I'm surprised in fact this is from Seiji Kishi, who usually makes far less pensive stuff - but it's just a snoozefest for me .

Yes, it's a pity because it is, artistically, pretty good, aside of the random CG characters lumbering around like zombies. The direction is good, the art/animation direction is also really good, with the attention to body language and all that. It's just that it was overall so boring to me that I ended up fast-fowarding through the last five minutes or so, something I rarely ever do.

Totally agree with the music being amazing; not a fan of much else though. You guys hit it right calling it a bit boring.

I like this art and i think seiji kishi is a pretty decent guy but i've managed to finished the episode with no idea of what i should anticipate next nor really knowing what happened.

In other words, it was too boring.

Sad.

I'm not sure how this is going to work out but it was a nice change of pace to have a first episode where the writers don't go all "meeting of fate!!" or "sudden setup!!" etc etc and instead we have a slow steady built up starting from very little that feels natural and down to earth. So I'm intrigued but not necessarily fascinated. Can they keep me interested?

While watching the first episode I kept remembering the look of Hourou Musuko. If that is intentional then the production staff is placing the bar very high for themselves. I was not bored by this as others have mentioned. Kind of appreciate the willingness to sometimes show rather than talk which can be a tricky thing to pull off within a 24 minute time limit. Will continue to watch.
