Episode 4

So I guess they didn't solve the gear problem after all.

There was only one word to describe that fight: intense. Despite my better judgement there was a moment there where I really doubted Joe. I was half wondering if Joe was suffering through some sort of late onset concussion from the first knock down. Turns out it was his fear which he was able to master pretty quickly once he became aware of it.

The legend of gearless Joe... Seems Shirato found about that boy and that is like an insult winning without a gear...

That fight was intense, like the real box watch as a kid(i watched tyson) and woah... all fight so intense and the Raging Bull Montage was a nice touch

Is #17 ranked fighter friend of Nanbu from the past? that fight is intense.

Not Dead YET...yeah...

Very risky, but not a bad plan to have Joe fight gearless. Attracts a lot of attention and admiration from the public and makes potential opponents underestimate him and therefore more likely to accept fighting him. However, won't the public feel cheated if he shows up with a gear for the actual tournament? I mean, he's not going to spend the whole anime gearless. That was just a plan to enable him to rank high enough to qualify in time. No matter how gifted he is, I doubt he stands a chance against Yuri without a gear and only three months of training.

The first fight... Felt like they were already killing Joe but he won thankfully. That compilation scene reminded me of the Rocky films

He probably going to go gearless toward the end of the series to show the world you don't need a exoskeleton gear to be a great boxer.

So he's actually went gearless. That'a high risk-high reward plan, but so far it paid off. Even though I was sure that Joe would win, the fight still did a good job of raising tension. I am curious as to what the president of the company was thinking when she saw the articles about Joe.

Given its episode titles, now we know how Joe gonna die in the end, taken too much damage with out his gear.

A very breathtaking episode. I love to succeed Joe succeed and fighting gearless made the fight even more intense.

Also, the music is still incredible imo from this show.

Going fast but just enough for the story to still go strong. Then again, its not the number of matches what counts, but the quality of each, and from what I've seen so far, the real big bouts will be something to look forward to, I mean, they're already doing right by going into Nansaku's past right away, so there's most likely nothing to fear.

Also, that Joe poster (the one the kids were throwing around) looks ****ing awesome!

The gearless joe phase won't last long until the higher fighters enter the ring.

That begin..i thought they might mixed which anime was...but later show, WOAH.

Few Series show that real side of war Veterans, Aragaki did have it hard but was that abandon never escape him.Ditto Nanbu, he did surrender pretty fast...all a massive misunderstanding and our eternal problem of never letting the past behind

That cliffhanger,... don't leave us with that mystery....

Wow, what's the twist at before the beginning?!

Still, poor Joe once again starts a match getting nearly KO? The poor one is reminding me of Seiya.

That was such an amazing episode. They've done a fantastic job introducing Aragaki and his struggles in just one episode. I don't think it could have been done better.

I loved what they did with Nanbu too. They showed us he was devastated when he heard his student was killed, but they also had him admit he had completely forgotten about him, as if he had never existed. That was a powerful line. I guess trying to forget was his way of dealing with grief, but the fact he eventually managed to do it is pretty horrible.

And his guy has lighter gear relative to who he's faced so far too.

Wasn't expecting some focus on war and what it can do to people from a boxing anime, but it did make for some well done drama. You really end up understanding what Aragaki went through and why this match is such a big deal to him. He may be in the ring with Joe, but he's arguably fighting Nanbu.

As for Nanbu, I can understand trying to bury the past to deal with the pain of his loss, but as everyone else pointed out, he gave up too easily and seemed to quick to bury Aragaki.

Well...if the only reason the gym was open was for the soldier who was presumed KIA (not MIA) then from a business standpoint Nanbu had to move on fast if he wanted to survive. Nanbu was not a relative.

However, he could have sent a card or something when he found out the dude was alive. Prob Nanbu was in a tough situation by then and was focusing on his survival. Aragaki needs to move on imo.

The guy was "dead" and it was announced too, everybody knows and the old man just move on with his life, I agree with aragaki trainer he is just jelous. You just can't expect the old man pinning for agaraki for the rest of his life, life goes on.
