Watch the very beginning of episode 4 closely.

Ah, Fruitfly listed most of the references. I'm no good at it anyway.

I'm pretty sure Klaus was doing a Tuxedo Mask. And you didn't mention Lupin, but anyone who didn't recognize that should be ashamed. Maybe the room with hospital partitions was an Eva ref?

When Hayate defeats Tama looked very familiar, but I can't think of anything specific and I won't embarrass myself by guessing. And the whole seeing with the mind's eye bit is done so much in fighting stories.

Mr. Cow & Mr. Frog from Papetto Mapetto, as already mentioned.
"Elohim Essaim" is from Urusei Yatsura. Also a live-action movie based on the manga "Gegege no Kitarou" by Shigeru Mizuki.

As for who Hayate is likely to end up with...

Is this awesome? [y/n]

Ep 8

Another great ep, although more plot heavy than comedy heavy (I mean, compared to usual). Which is fine. I dig this story since I just like these characters so much. And the comedy is still really funny. This show really doesn't waste jokes that often and the funniest generally get serious lols from me.

OK, that whole "ruined for marriage" bit at the very end made me burst into laughter. I still can't believe they got away with all that on a Sunday morning show.

Next Week: Hayate must break into the school at night to pick up Nagi's notebook, only to run into a taciturn sword-wielding girl who hunts invisible demons, right?
Funnily enough, I think these were about the only references in the whole episode and both are rather contentious (particularly the former) AND after the ED credits. I'm glad this show can be more than just random references... it's one of the reasons why I rank it so highly as an entertaining comedy.

Hayate is one of the those very feminine looking men like Shiratori (Mahoraba) that still manages to have Harima Kenji levels of manly GARness and is good at everything (except interacting with people he's emotionally invested in like a normal human... and that goes for both Hayate and Harima). He is cut from the mold of really likable male leads, though. And, like Shiratori, he is a serious trap.

Using the "mind's eye" was also in episode 4. I also seen a few anime where they use the "mind's eye" especially characters with swords.
And tell us where the lariat move Hayate did is from!

even though im rooting for a Maria x Hayate... after reading the manga and seeing ep 8 with previews i believe he will end up with Hinagiku which is not a bad choice because she also a favorite character of mine

The TV op for Lupin III has a bit where Lupin tries to jump into Fujiko's bed, but a strategically placed spring-loaded boxing glove knocks him through a window. I don't think it was ever explicitly used in the show or any of the movies, although there were many instances of Fujiko tossing Lupin out a window.

You've seen FLCL, I hope. The first five minutes of the "Brittle Bullet" episode was a long chain of Lupin III references. Including the boxing glove.

Unfortunately, the preview after episode 7 spoiled the joke. Still funny, but gags like that require the element of surprise. Like with the Nintendo controllers.

I've seen a suggestion that it's something done by Ryomou in Ikkitousen. I can't vouch for that, although the fact that Ryomou appears in a catgirl costume at one point reinforces the possibility.

No one ever said it wasn't funny. Just very, very, very uncomfortable.

There aren't enough posts to warrant it . The Nanoha forum generates more posts just in the episode threads

Has anyone heard of Gansaku?
I just read about him today.

There is a website which is crazy about "Hayate no Gotoku". "Gansaku" The author of this webcomic artist loves "Hayate no Gotoku" and he draws a lot of parody webcomics. He's also famous for buying 15 first volumes, 25 second volumes and 35 third volumes of "Hayate no Gotoku" (and he's unemployed)... Some people claim "Hayate no Gotoku" became famous because of him ^^;
I think the last line is BS though
But his comics look hilarious.
I wish someone would translate...

Parody of TamaxHayate
Parody of the Maria and Hayate playing pool <-- with fan service.
His site has some spoliers if you go to other sections btw.

I am hoping that she is who Hayate ends up with. Luckily, Hayate doesn't have interest in children and she's pretty much the same age as Hayate.
