Well, at least Rena is somewhat of a robot rather than a delusioned human. Still, her incantation is long and Rena might get interrupted and cost her life.

I know of some shows which interrupts incantations in one time, but I don't think this will.. unless... something force her not to.

And err, I think she needs it to summon the robot...

Um, you might add G Gundam to that as Magna Alecto has a finishing move similar to Shining/God Finger.

Yeah, I would say that the staff at Actas drew inspiration to both G Gundam and Gundam 00.

Now then, since Regalia are based on three Japanese sacred treasures, I wonder if Magna Alecto represents the Kusanagi sword or the Yata mirror?

To answer that you have to see what the other 2 Regalias that shows up in the ED (OP) scene represents, as it is still vague as to what Magna Alecto represents.

I'm still not sure what I was watching although it looked good. Allot was going on but little explanation to why everything was happening. I'm hoping they start fleshing the world and characters out soon

It doesn't look like it uses either, really, or rather, everything went by so fast I didn't notice. More screentime is required.

I'm certainly on board for this series! That was a really cool fight too, don't laugh, I was kind of jaded and expecting an entirely CG fight, but wow I was surprised and entertained

now that you point it out, the Alecto's color scheme also reminds me of the Exia Dark Matter from Build Fighters.

I like Alecto's EVA like build. The cloak is a cool touch too. Young boys have been piloting giant robots since the beginning, so young girls are ok with me.

Episode 2:

They really are messing a lot with the jokes. I mean, "3 sizes"? really now?

Sadly, I think the show is losing its flavor there despite some of the action (still a bit gimmicky though). In the meantime, I guess this establishes Yui as the main empress and ruler of their country unless something changes. They really should of made more screen time for the mech action in the end. On the other hand, I like the music of the show namely the OP song.

I'm guessing that next week the next Regalia will be showing up to save Yui and Rina. Thought the fight at the end was pretty nicely done.

I don't know. That last frame seems to infer Yui might gain a power-up in which she's able to protect Rena.

Yeah, I think the key to getting out of this will be Yui and Rena working together. Right now it is just Rena trying to do all the work and protect Yui. Having her in there is helpful to fighting closer to her potential, but it's still not at what she is capable of.

I did like the focus on Yui's dilemma. It was both a serious one, but an obvious choice to make. Even if you are the leader of a country, handing over your family to a bunch of terrorists is ridiculous. It may mean danger is coming their way, but the other option is unacceptable. Rena may not be a human being, but she's still family.

A good episode for giving Yui more focus and moving towards her stepping up. She didn't just go there to be protected, but to protect her sister.

Episode 1 was great imo, but this one had some awkward pacing and the three-size "joke" was unnecessary and doesn't fit the tone of the episode.

That been said, I'm not giving up on this show just yet. This episode was weak, but I'm hoping next episode will hit the mark.

BTW, online distribution (Funimation and Daisuki) was dropping frames again. I'm starting to think it's deliberate, but I don't know why the producers would cripple their own show.

In any case, if you want to see the cool fights without stuttering, you'll have to download ATX raw, which continue to be the only version of Regalia that doesn't drop frames.

The Empress walking around the streets and getting ambushed by the fake reporter without secret guards appearing does not sound logical at all.
