As expected Bulat died. I like the fact that this anime will kill off protagonists, I just wish I cared about them too and that they happened later. It didn't help that it felt like Bulat had less of a back-story than Sheele.
Other than that, I legitimately couldn't get into this episode. Had a curiously detached feel to me. I do feel interested in Esdeath though, since we've been just enough glances into her character to interest me. |

RIP Bulat, you were a good guy to the very end.
I do wonder if the show is just making these big kills early to create that sense of unease for every fight and we actually won't lose many characters once it gets deeper into the source material. Either way it was a great show by Bulat. He just overcame so much throughout that fight and fell to something that really just about anyone would have fallen to. Hard to do much about that attack without getting injured to some degree. Wasn't sure if Tatsumi was actually going to get a teigu or be the rare type that actually becomes strong enough to fight them without one. Probably a good move though. That armor still allows him to fight head on and has room for major improvement. Still going to be weird for a while seeing Tatsumi in that armor and not Bulat. Not quite as sad as Sheele's death maybe because the surprise factor wasn't as much there, but still a good episode.

The build up is different from the Manga. It's going by too fast.
However, I still felt sad for Bulat like I did in the Manga, most likely because I carried my impression over. Well, next episode we get to see the MOE side of the moon finally. |

RIP Bulat.
Two missions in a row, where they lost members. But here they gained 3 devil arms. Didn't expect Tatsumi to gain incursio as his. Thought he would struggle against users for a bit longer or find one of his own. Only thing I didn't like about this one battle is the flute one just being absent for half the battle when he's right there on the same ship. Especially when Tatsumi's attention is off him and the battle between Bulat and his former general. For a series that always stressed about being aware of your surroundings and the danger of sudden death, they really threw it out the window this episode.

Flute boy acknowledged Bulat's strength as a close second to the current big bad and one blow from Bulat put him just reasonably above Tatsumi in power. Given the power difference between fluteboy and Bulat I don't think fluteboy's trump card would have been a factor while Bulat was still combat ready. I think he only used his transformation at the end because he took a second blow from Bulat to buy Liver more time and was probably concerned about his strength relative to Tatsumi at that point, not to mention a possible final rally out of Bulat. |

RIP Bulat. Just like Sheele his death had a special purpose.
Sheele's death was to show the members of NR aren't invincible. Bulat's death was to show that he acknowledges Tatsumi's potential and he is handing passing down Incursio to him to show that Tatsumi is his legacy.

So new girl in the end, Kurome, is potentially Akame's sister, considering the similarities in their looks. She is also a crazy killer, who likes to wear High School sailor outfit clothing, and she will join in as part of Esdeath's new underlings group of six to replace Esdeath's current 3 who died.
Also, Justice-chan, Seryuu, appears to have new arms and is joining that group of six. And what?!?! Tatsumi is going to challenge Esdeath in public in from of all those people?!? I wonder if Esdeath's requirement for a lover is someone who can beat her? I'm pretty sure it's obvious that Tatsumi will somehow fit her description for who she wants as a lover.

I re-checked episode 4, and Akame said that she killed Kurome (illusion) as quickly as possible because she loves Kurome. In that sense, I guess it is not that she has killed Kurome, but if she sees Kurome, she plans to kill Kurome. The illusion only reflects who Akame holds dearest, not whether or not the person is already dead.

considering that they've killed 2 of the main cast in 2-3 episodes, at this rate only the boss who sits at the throne will be alive by episode 24.
also, this might seem spoiler-ish, but will they introduce other characters, or have introduced other characters in the source material? |
