The Japanese are real fond of taking a first syllable or two of each word in a phrase and slapping them together.... sort of like an acronym.

One example is the word karaoke, which blends the japanese word for empty (karappo) with the import word orchestra (okesutora).

I guess because she came in so late in the last series, Azusa is getting a lot of episodes to center around her for this series, and this is episode was another of those. The rare Azusa Mugi interaction in this episode was nice to see. They need to give more time to Mugi and Yui hanging out, that would be kind of fun. As far as the boxers, maybe her dad washed them with a red sock.

The montage of other clubs (at that time) show how much detail Kyoani puts around the NPCs, which ties into a narrative about the (wider) school. Many of the clubs linked could have their own series, really. (particularly the theatre club and the art club).
