So basically this is Kawamori's take on "Escaflowne meets Revolutionary Girl Utena".
Welp, seeing Kawamori handling this series makes me shudder.

EDIT: And wait a sec — Minori Chihara and STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION working for theme songs together once again after Kyoukai no Kanata?

I saw the preview and I was pretty stoked for awhile. Then I saw the ugly CG robots come out to flail around disgracefully. That was the anime preview equivalent of the lord of the dance doing Cry of the Celts on top of my balls.

They are pretty ugly. So I haven't seen much, but is it safe to assume that this is the new Muv-Luv?

It's a Kawamori and Satelight production. CGI robots are pretty much a given .

Can't say that the mechs really "wow" me, nor do I find Nobunaga's mech that impressive.

Give it some time. Judging from the premise, this is about to get Gurren Lagann soon.

Found some stuff on my twitter feed this morning, first an image from Thomas Romain which is a close up of one of the later ones:

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

And then some images from Newtype (courtesy of RyougaSaotome on twitter, think the first two are by Takako Shimizu but not sure about the last three)

Why do all of the europeans look like a coalition of all of the worst assholes ever assembled? Except Joan who they decided to make into Saber from F/S Night. Though I suppose that series was about making you think she was Joan of Arc...

Thomas Romain later posted on twitter explaining that he drew the tarot cards in the image he RT'd, figured it had to be something like that but didn't want to assume. XD
And got another photo from him showing off the stage show, actors in the center being dubbed in real time by the VAs off to the side, wonder how many shows they're doing since that sounds like it could get tiring fast.

They should've done simplier and use only VAs to play in the live events. Sega has been doing it with Sakura Taisen franchise for 20 years already and most of them are pretty good.

The Tiger and Bunny Stage Show had Kotetsu and Barnaby's VA's play their characters as well.

I'm sure Miyano could pull off playing Nobunaga in live action, and I'm sure Sugita would have fun playing Da Vinci in live action .

By the way, I was intrigued by Jeanne Kaguya D'Arc's middle name. It probably comes from an ancient folktale:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tal..._Bamboo_Cutter
The gist is that Kaguya was from the moon, and she had to get back there in the end. What does it remind me?

The voice cast has me interested. I'm expecting Sugita to have fun as Da Vinci

After seeing the previews this looks less like Escaflowne and more like Aquarion mecha in the Wings of Rean version of Byston Well from the the Dunbine franchise.

Well I wasn't interested in this but that voice cast is pretty darn good.

I am not expecting much though

Nice character art has brought me here.

Watching this because of Jeanne.
I think she'll be my girl for the season.

The character designer, Kazuki Yone, did the designs for the Hakouki and Hiiro no Kakera romance games as well.
