I also ask the same question after reading that part.

But one thing comes on my mind after reading it.

Accelerator is called a villain because he will surely KILL his enemy but still protected the other people who are not his enemies. That is the current Accelerator

but the "hero" in his mind will surely SAVE anyone including the "ENEMY" in front of him.

It's pretty ironic if you ask me

Their is a clear difference between rank 1 and 2 from 3 and below but still rank and 1 and 2 are still had huge gap between them... monster

Exactly why Touma and Eiwas think Accelerator is delusional and make believing. Completely over-glorifies some ideals that simply isn't realistic or believe it to be something that it really isn't....

I guess he's lost to Nature in Military training (like being bitten by snake or illness) or shoot by his opponent in Battle Simulation.

There's no way to pay back murderer...this is why I've been keep in this place.

One life is very precious, since one life born to this world isn't belong to him/herself, but other person like his parents family, his own family, his friends, and his creator.
Once it lost unnaturally, some scenario (fate) will differ from how it supposed to be, make the future different....and make some one else (people the one belong to) sad.

If there's a way to pay it back, may be I'll be set free to do it. Like save an amount of Natural Disaster victim or do some public (for all human) service till some designated time.
But even so...my own life can't reimburse any lost I cause till today.

I think Accelerator bases all of his ideals on his perception of the person who really changed him - Touma. Because he was the one who murdered the Sisters and Touma was the one who stopped the experiment, he can only ever view himself as a villain and Touma as an ultimate hero, no matter what happens.

So basically, yeah, he has low self-esteem.

The thing is, Touma does practically get away with saving just about everyone besides half of the Sisters, I think. You can kinda see where Accel is coming from.

Though, my problem with Accelerator's way of thinking is.... he is denying his own possibility.
Also, one who does not believe himself cannot protect another, as the protection offered would eventually become a burden.
Accelerator, if you truly wants to protect Last Order, begin with believing yourself to be worthy.

And worst of all, his self loathing has escalated into the realm of arrogance, thinking that no one can get dirtier than you. What a horrible excuse to make so you don't have to change yourself......

And Accelerator is a Villain, not one of the ‘good guys’.

At this time, one of those puke-inducing ‘Good guys’ will probably leave it at this, and turn to walk away. But now, Accelerator only wordlessly pulled out a gun from its holster on his side. A loud voice sounded out from outside his view. From the crowd gathered a familiar face jumped out. Wearing a green jersey that’s ridiculously unfashionable, and her face that have no make-up on it. She’s a school teacher and also one of the Anti-Skill that keep the peace.

Yomikawa Aiho.

She ran straight towards him.

“I don’t know where you went, or what this current situation mean. But, all I have to say is this: Give me the gun. That’s not something you need!”

Yomikawa doesn’t have a gun on her. She doesn’t even have special batons, tasers or anything that is for self-protection. Everyone watching might think she’s an idiot. Facing a rampaging esper that did this much damage, going in with unarmed is almost like suicide.

Yomikawa probably know just how dangerous the situation is herself.

Or putting it another way, as an Anti-Skill standing on the frontlines, she understands far better than bystanders just how dangerous her actions are.

“I’m a Villain.”

“Then I’ll stop you.”

“Are you serious?”

“Apart from that I have no other choice.”

Not defeating him, but just stop him. That’s her way of doing things. Just like how Accelerator chose a life of a Villain, Yomikawa would never agree with methods that point a weapon at the children that they need to protect. Accelerator stared into Yomikawa’s eyes. Those eyes shone out with determination. In Accelerator’s view this is a way of life that is beyond foolish, but to her this is something that is worth giving up her life.

“It doesn’t matter whether you are a Villain or Hero, Accelerator, nor is what kind of world that you are involved in. for me, what’s most important is bringing you back. No matter how dark or cold your world is, I’ll never give you up, and drag you back!”

In this instant, the two of them share the same position. This has nothing to do with being the strongest Level 5 in Academy City or an adult with no power of her own; Yomikawa Aiho is blocking Accelerator’s way.

“That’s why I have to stop you. For the children I must protect, and for the dearly-loved peace. Where you and Last Order can both happily live together. For such a future, the gun in your hand is unnecessary.”

“…”

Accelerator wordlessly finished listening to her words.

He came to a conclusion.

The gun that was pointed at Kakine turned and pointed towards Yomikawa.

(So,)

Yomikawa is an enemy. Even if she’s one of the ‘good guys’, even if her reason is for Accelerator’s own good, her actions are impeding the way of Accelerator’s path of Evil.

So she must be eliminated; but she doesn’t have to be killed. If he wants to go easy on her his gun skills is more than enough to do so.

Accelerator also has people he wants to protect. People like Last Order, SISTERs, Yoshikawa Kikyou, and Yomikawa Aiho. So, he must be cruel to the very end. Even if he has to fight against the whole world, and even against those he must protect, he has to save those people from the darkness.

Victory is decided just like that. The fingers that is holding onto the gun is slowly plied open one by one by Yomikawa. Then she took out the clip, pulled the smoothbore, and took out the bullet already in the gun. Faced with this kind of end, Accelerator can only stare blankly.

At this time,

An attack made of Dark Matter came suddenly, and cut off Accelerator’s thought.

The target wasn’t him.

Yomikawa opened her eyes wide in shock. She slowly looked down. The white wing made of unknown materials has stabbed through the side of her stomach like a knife. Her green jersey has been dyed red. And with each passing moment the redness have spread into a frightening large patch.

Yomikawa wanted to say something, but after stumbling a few steps she collapsed.

Accelerator can only look on. Behind the collapsed Yomikawa stands a human figure. It was the unconscious Kakine Teitoku.

And behind him are the six wings.

There’s no need to explain what had just happened.

Swish. The sharp wings that stabbed through Yomikawa’s side were lightly pulled out.

“… She actually said no matter how dark or cold the world you are in, she’ll definitely bring you back?”

Kakine said with a face stained with blood.

The reason he attacked Yomikawa isn’t because she was in his way. From the beginning, Kakine’s eyes only have Accelerator. That slight hesitation, the slight hesitation in front of Yomikawa that he will step off the path of Evil, was the reason he attacked Yomikawa.

And that’s towards Yomikawa lying on the ground.

“I can’t hear you.”

Cracking sounds are made, but no-one’s sure what is happening. Kakine isn’t touching Yomikawa, but Yomikawa’s body is being stepped on by something unseen. Her body is trembling, and the red-black patch upon the pressure has started to spread once more.

“Stop!!”

“I can’t ****ing hear you!!”

Accelerator’s voice is being drowned out by Kakine’s roar.

“Don’t count on me to stop, you idiot!! What do you expect talking to solve, you villain? You have got to be joking – that’s not how we do things!”

Kakine used his ability and increased the pressure on Yomikawa.

This time it’s not just her side, even Yomikawa’s mouth started to have sticky crimson liquid leaking out.

“If you want to stop someone than kill him, if you don’t like something then destroy it. That’s the Evil! Being saved is unnecessary!! Being smiled upon and forgiven is unnecessary!! A piece of **** ******* like you doesn’t deserve to be forgiven! Come on! Let me see, the ‘Evil’ that you, who have only spouted fancy words have!!”

Though you’ve said before you won’t involve normal people this is the result. Even though you’ve given up on the light, even though you’ve decided to stand at the pinnacle of the darkness, in the end you got tempted by soft words into reaching for the thread of light that reached for you. That pillar that supports him has completely shattered. His whole body have been infected by a murky emotion. Accelerator, who clenched his teeth and has crimson eyes lets out a roar that echoes to the ends of the Earth!

“Aaaaaaaargh!!”

From behind him spread murky black wings, as if it shot out from his back. This pair of wings that contains something that can blow away the mind, and anger that shatter his own sense of self, spread instantly over tens of metres, and shaves off parts of the buildings and roads around him.

“Ha.”

This pair of black wings, Kakine has seen it before, and knows what it is.

The elementary particles that don’t exist in this world, ‘Dark Matter’.

“… So strong. Such powerful Evil. So you can do it if you put your mind to it, Villain. If that’s the case then indeed ‘Dark Matter’ is only suitable for being the ‘Spare Plan’. However, this doesn’t mean it’s all decided!!”

Kakine’s six wings, as if responding to his roar, spread explosively. The wings that span several tens of metres emit a mysterious glow, and at the same time have an inorganic feel like a machine. Almost like a giant weapon gods and angels normally use.

Flap. The air around the six wings lets out a howl.

Accelerator and Dark Matter control the organic and inorganic powers respectively.

Different to this world, this is organic and inorganic in terms of a different world. The one who wields the power of God and the one who have touched the territory of God. Now the odds of victory are even, only that different to Accelerator, Kakine have not lost his self.

An unprecedented power is expanding within him.

And, he has perfectly mastered this power.

Now the position of the Number One and Number Two of Academy City is about to be reversed. This is neither a bluff nor an exaggeration. He now believes even if he fights against all the armies in the world, and even every esper in Academy City, he can emerge victorious and unharmed.

“Hahaha!! Uwahahahaha!!”

Kakine laughed and waved his completely awakened six wings down at Accelerator.

He no longer sees Accelerator as a threat, but only thing to test his new powers on.


Splat.

Kakine Teitoku’s body got pressed into the tarmac by a great power.

“Wha…?!”

He completely doesn’t understand what just happened.

Accelerator’s wings didn’t move at all. He only stared at Kakine and slightly moved his hands. With just that, he defeated Kakine who had absolute power and grinded him deep into the ground.

His right hand that had the Pincet Glove on it got torn off from the elbow onwards.

(Ah! … Uwah! Wh, Wha?! Just what is - )

Accelerator must have changed vectors and energies of some sort, and redirected those towards Kakine as a attack. Even though he understands, but even if he gathered all the energies in this world this phenomenon shouldn’t have happened. The Kakine Teitoku now can’t lose to this world.

Unreasonable.

Inexplicable.

With a overwhelming presence Accelerator walked step by step towards Kakine Teitoku. His steps are like the countdown until the end of Kakine’s life, when it reaches zero it will be all over. And, Accelerator has reached that last step.

“Ha, ha.”

No reply, just a fist filled with killing intent.

The quality of the voice is frighteningly good, a normal person would wonder if this is the same kind of phone as anyone else has. If the phone has some other line connected to it then maybe this level of quality can be explained.

But, to the frog-faced doctor this is nothing unusual.

As he had said to Accelerator, he’s an old senpai that has submerged into the world of darkness.

“Still early, huh. To what extent will you be using Accelerator and Last Order until you are satisfied?”

[“Who knows? Compared to that, whether they can last until the end is the bigger question. The stage where imputing the values of the AIM field into Last Order using the Testament machine is finally finished… the completion progress of the other side is the main problem right now. Though the method of combining Accelerator, Last Order and Kazakiri Hyouka can be used, it’s still not that reliable. My goal is something far greater.”]

Both sides declared the actions of the opposition “Foolish and illogical”, completely denying the other side’s viewpoint any possible credibility. From this there doesn’t seem to be any intent of negotiation, but rather gives off the feeling that both sides want to increase the conflict to a more extreme level.

War, is about to begin.

Maybe this will become the world’s 3rd, and largest war.

And a better version of the part of the talk between the Pope and Fiamma from Vol.16 Epilogue.
