Actually, the SqaureEnix credit is due to the fact that Sumomomo Momomo is based on a comic that originally appeared in magazine published by SquareEnix.

I am not geeky or weak. I have a brand new Mercedes, a big house, a 25 year old wife, and a wang that spans a whole 11 inches... screw you

I really liked the way you put it in your original post. You were just expressing an opinion, and quite effectively. And it gave me a chance to talk about (and think about) why I like Hirano Aya's work. Personally, I'm finding out how much fun Japanese-style seiyuu-worship can be, lol. Check out the "seiyuu gallery" in my sig for more.

I give a lot of leeway to opponents of SHnY. I think it's one of the best shows ever, but I can totally understand how all the hype would alienate someone who didn't agree.

Well I wasn't refering to anyone specifically, so theres no need to get riled up. As to your claims really none of those factors affect whether or not you are weak geeky and nerdy.

Yeah its serialized in Square Enix's seinen magazine Young GanGan.
Here is the cover of one of the issues:

Bi-weekly seinen manga magazine.

omg after a rewatch with the subs the start of the first ep did actually show quite a bit of "sexual referrences"
momoko's dad: "you must marry the stongest man and have the strongest child!"
momoko : "alright!"
song kicks in : lets engage in child production...
man that part had me in some serious stitches XD

Hahaha same here, Deathkillz. The fansub had notes that in the anime they changed some sentances to suit TV audience, I guess this is one of them.

Actually it's probably sprinkled all throughout the entire first episode lol. Every time Momoko talks about making a child or even hints at it, I get the feeling that the fansubbers have toned down the language a bit. I can't confirm this, because my Japanese is limited, but with a series like this one, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.

Oh yeh, you've quote my two favorite lines of the series so far. As simple as it may sound, those two lines set up the entire ridiculous scenario for the show lol

According to Megami notes, it's the animators that toned down the manga, changing "Please, have sex with me" to "Please, go to bed with me".

Aye.. the translation is fairly onbase.... its the original dialog that has been sanitized a bit (once again we "thank" our protective Japanese S&P censors who seem more worried about that sort of thing than spleens and guts spraying across the scene like their American counterparts).

People with innocent minds shouldn't be watching this? They should be watching Winnie the Pooh ... unless of course they're wanting to be enlightened in a comedic way

The word I heard was "契り" substituted in for セックス.

According to dictionary.goo.ne.jp, meaning (2) seems to be the sense she was using:

ちぎり 3 0 【契り】

〔動詞「ちぎる」の連用形から〕
(2)男女が肉体関係をもつこと。

- a physical relationship between a man and a woman.

So its the same meaning, but they moved to a more advanced dialog that has alternate primary meanings (to vow, promise, etc). Its definitely a way to soften the dialog down, imo.

I'm somewhat surprised that the Gairaigo "sekkusu" is perceived as explicit/vulgar in Japanese even

eh, its not a bad thing. you dont have to be vulgar to be humorous. i think it all depends on the voice acting and the facial expressions.

It's actually funnier if she says things like "let's engage in child production", it
sounds like she wants to set up a factory or something - it's so absurd and the
reactions from the male protagonist are hilarious.

And the bit about being the "strongest fiance'" was utterly terrifying.

After watching a few episodes, this had me laughing my head off.... and I think I'll have to store it in the same deep dark place I put Dokura-chan (which damn near had my son's girlfriend thinking I was too scary to be around... but I dosed her with Ichigo Mashimaru and she's fine now ).

Nothing like a basic no-nonsense yet completely insane plot line... heh.
