Igarashi doesn't do much nopan. But give it time and Ritz will draw them. It'll be butt cheeks and boobs galore.

I hope she uses the highschool versions for that...

But even in Achiga we got Shizu, who didn't even need much nopan shots, it was pretty obvious at first sight. Designs in Shinohayu are more subdued in that type of stuff, though still very nice, particularly Kanna.

That was just boobs being a basic part of Nodoka's character, and if you think I'm exaggerating, remember we got to see Kasumi as a child and she looked perfectly normal.

Wait, how did my post lead to the discussion about boobs and nopan?

I'm probably a minority here...but I prefer pantsu shot more than nopan.

That would be my fault. Sorry, but that had been on my mind for days.

I'm ok with either, but its obvious which one dominates in Saki.

To change subject, leaks for the new shinohayu are out. I can't post images right now, but it looks like a good one.

Spoiler for Spoiler:

Most importantly, though, we get to see a couple more players, and hopefully future rivals, and one of them is a familiar name, sort of.

Spoiler for Surprise!:

Well played, Ritz.

Same here, I really don't care about the current match in the main series, and it's not because of Nodoka, it's just that the next match promises SO MUCH, while this is one pales by comparison.
I'm enjoying Shinohayu more than the main series myself. It has the freedom to focus more on the actual characters, and not just get bogged down in the endless tournament chapters.

I hope the next season of Saki anime will be Shinohayu. That'd be awesome!

Still though, there is one thing I'm really looking forward to in the main series: the re-match between Saki and Kyouko Suehara.

Chapter 18 of Shinohayu is out.
Kanna getting her but kicked yet again was eh but the Hayari visit was nice. New characters are going to be interesting I think.

Well, finally began and caught up to the most recent release of Shinohayu.

Hmm ... gotta say that it is a pleasant side story (or maybe prequel?) to the main Saki story line.

I have found myself able to connect with Shino, and am especially happy to see the uncle so positively portrayed (male characters being a rarity in the Saki-verse and all). It was great to see Shino get the comeback win in that local tournament.

I also really like Hayarin's mini arc - very touching.

Hafta admit though that if there were anyone I was interested to see more of in this side story manga it would have to be Mihirogi Uta (i.e. "Wakkannya!") - I liked her when she first started showing up in Achiga-hen.

But I gotta say one of my favorite parts about Shinohayu has been Ritz's drawing more and more beautiful landscape shots, especially early on - they were quite nice.

Aguri Igarashi is the illustrator for Shinohayu just as she was for Achiga. Ritz still provides the script though.

Ahhh ... ok ... thanks.

The visual style IS a lot more like Achiga now that you mention it and I look back on the releases....

It amuses me how Kanna becomes more and more of a doofus in each chapter. But ,that's part of her moe

It's like Achiga, but much less rushed.

BTW, Aguri Igarashi also illustrated another Seinen manga about a girl's sports team: Bamboo Blade, about kendo. I highly recommend it! It's a great combination of quirky character-based comedy and heartfelt moments.

Kanna is really coming out as not very good in mahjnog, isn't she? I wonder where that will put her in matches against other teams.

It's both, really, and I like that, since it means no need to connect it with current events bogging down the story.

Honestly, this whole story feels more slice of life than any other Saki related thing, which is good, since the main series already provides more than enough on the mahjong front. Still, a big match against some of the newcomers would be nice.[/QUOTE]

not very good is still top 4 in her region and able to always put up a match among her top 4 partners, so it's all relative.

True, and I guess she could just not be that motivated in practice matches. She makes for a cute slob too

Well it's good she's learned to loosen up and not be so high strung all the time about it. Now she can just relax and have fun. She's clearly a lot happier now.
