At the moment, I'm not sure if the lack of spoilers is due to the whole "double issue" thing or this is a result of Shounen Jump's little letter that resulted in the crackdown of raws.

...and that's one thing that I'm very upset about. Basically, I have a feeling that this crackdown is affecting how early it will be before we know spoilers of what is going on in the Negima manga. I won't know if this is actually happening or not until chapter 289 (since 288 is part of a double issue, it's possible that we may have missed something here when it comes to spoilers for that chapter). However, if the crackdown is the reason for it, then it's definitely a bad move IMO, as it feels that people who are curious about what's going to happen next are being punished by not knowing what will happen until the chapter actually comes out (rather than getting some preview pics a few days earlier).

Editorial comments aside, some possible early spoilers for 288 have appeared already,

and it seems the focus is about Akira convincing Negi to Pactio with the other Sports Girls.

I don't know what happens in the chapter yet. However, if no Pactios are made in this chapter, then it would be cool if Akira is the first Sports Girl to Pactio with Negi, given not only what's going on here (Akira putting her fellow Sports girls ahead of her when it comes Pactios) and the fact that there's a couple traits that she and Nodoka, the first Library girl to Pactio with Negi, share (Negi has commented on both of them on the 3-A roster sheet; they're the two students that would make the best romantic partner for Negi according to the Love Calculator).

Well, chapter 288 is finally out ...

From what I can see not many developments, apart from the first few pages. It seems to be setting the mood for the sport girls having a Pactio with Negi, but the central character of this chapter is Akira. From the looks of it she tries to get a Pactio with Negi on her own in this chapter,but the rest of the sport girls appear before she is able to make one.

And on some interesting developments, it seems like Chisame has finally succumbed to her feelings for Negi as well, since in this chapter she finally shows that she's jealous ... shudder I wouldn't want to meet Chisame when she's acting in this way. From the looks of it, Chisame has fallen for Negi as well ... and of course Chamo knows about it as well.

So basically it seems that this chapter is setting up things for more Pactio's taking place .... which would bring the number of contracts that Negi has to fifteen.

At any rate it seems that Negi has taken the heart's of two more girls as well (Akira and Chisame), so maybe this chapter won't be so bad.

However, given the jealousy that she's having in this chapter, it's obvious that the girl is finally having romantic feelings for Negi. There's a big difference than having a Pactio with Negi and having romantic feelings for him.

It was obvious that she had feelings for him from the start but she was just to much into how can these people like a kid and why is he teaching. love through jealousy is how Chisame is :P

Nnnno. Okouchi has a more naturally friendly, open air to her. Motoko had to work on that. During the incident you mentioned, she was at first distraught, then desperate, then overcompensating.
